Sorry I don't want to use a 31 game sample size.

Haula's last 25 regular season games last year

9 goals 17 points

once again better offensive production. In both raw and advanced numbers. The metrics all favour haula. Who also has missed just 10 games in the last 3 years

Monahan in 25 games last year : 17 pts. What is your point?
He could have easily get 23 pts in 60 games. In fact, in his worse season playing fourth line minutes, he got just that : 23 pts in 65 games. That is his worse season. There is no way he wouldn’t have beaten Haula last season

Monahan was dumped along with a 1st from Calgary a little more than one year ago and now you're asking a 1st for Monahan in return?
These Habs fans truly have no shame. Why don't you include Josh Anderson for Nemec or Holtz while you're at it?

His analytics are below mid, he can't stay healthy, and his offensive production over the last 5 years hasn't been better than haulas. The market showed his worth as a UFA. It was a 1 year dirt cheap deal that wasn't even with a contender

He was better than Haula in pace in 4/5 of the last season (including this one).
Monahan
2023-24 : 5 in 6
2022-23 : 17 in 25
2021-22 : 23 in 65
2020-21 : 28 in 50
2019-20 : 48 in 70
2018-19 : 82 in 78

Haula
2023-24 : 3 in 5
2022-23 : 41 in 82
2021-22 : 44 in 78
2020-21 : 21 in 51
2019-20 : 24 in 47
2018-19 : 7 in 15

The only time Haula outproduced Monahan was in 2021-22, when he was getting benched in Calgary. If you want, we can even go earlier and Monahan still claps Haula

0.55 ppg for haula since 19-20
0.56 for monahan since 19-20

Wow, very slightly more offensively productive while being worse at every other aspect and being unable to stay on the ice. Very much a guy I want.

Wow, Monahan has a better offensive production in his worse years than Haula in his best years. He is also better defensively and on the faceoff dot.

Your arguments are incoherent. Please stop embarrassing yourself even more

And yet over the last half decade they are basically dead even in PPG

I don't like to use +/- but haula dominates there.

Haula is 54% in the dot over the last half decade, Monahan 52%.

Haula with the edge in on ice xGoals%.

Haula kills penalties.

Haula has better analytics.

Haula much more versatile

And Haula can stay healthy

Haula last 5 season are his best

Monahan last 5 are his worse

And he is still better

2% when it’s prime Haula and draugh Monahan

Monahan kill penalties

Monahan can play wing and C. He can play po and pk.

Monahan has a better leadership.

Monahan is better defensively

Health doesn’t matter when compairing how good a player is

But I will go through this for the sake of all devils fans so habs fans can finally understand:

The devils do not want your garbage:

Only Dach, Suzuki, Caufield, Newhook and maybe slaf crack our top 9.

Suzuki not worth the pricepoint as a 3C. Caufield underwhelming defensively as our 3rd best winger and we can't afford without moving Palat. Dach underwhelming 5v5 player who would be our 8th or 9th best PP option. would probably end up as a 3rd line winger. Newhook I'd take for the 3rd line, but not for what you paid for him. Slaf over Holtz sure, but not willing to add too much to get that done.

No interest in anyone else on forward, unless you want to get fleeced for your prospects.

Defensively no interest in Barron, Harris, Savard, Xhekaj.

Guhle way too expensive price wise.

Matheson probably at a cheap price to be a 3rd pairing puck mover but wouldn't pay too much.
Kovacevic as a smith replacement sure, at a reasonable price.

No interest in Allen's contract
Would maybe take montembault for a 3rd/4th.

Ahh great so monahan is going downhill. Good to know.

It's been half a decade. Monahan isn't going back to what he was.

Monahan hasn't had more than 50 minutes on the PK in any year since he was 21 years old

Monahan does not have better leadership

Monahan's defensive metrics were ATROCIOUS for every year of his career, like bottom 5% of the league bad. however he does have a 25 game sample size last year where he was mediocre.

Health matters when you're trying to create chemistry on a team and justifying the trade value of monahan.

Devils have no need, that doesn’t mean habs player are worse. Monahan is better than Haula. Also, you ain’t gonna get something if you don’t pay.

Haula has been equally productive offensively, better defensively, better on the faceoffs, and healthier over the last HALF DECADE. He's better

Matthews just had the worst season of his career. Is he going downhill? Monahan was going downhill with the Flames, now he is getting better.

No **** he isn’t going back to his former glory. He was a ppg player. He is now a 55-60 pts C.

Monahan has a big role on the pk. He was just injured

Monahan is a huge leader

He was good with Montreal. He is with mtl now.

Health doesn’t matter when trying to compare 2 players. Is Haula better than injury prone Stone?

Ask the ****ing world who is better, they are gonna say Monahan

Btw he has another goal now

5 and a half minutes on the power play against: checks notes, Elvis Merzlikins, who was the worst goalie in hockey last year.

And the goal was scored by, checks notes: standing in front of the net uncovered and getting a tip. Is that supposed to move me?

You don't seem to be understanding that I'm not talking about a 1 year sample size. Almost every stat I've mentioned has been based on a HALF DECADE SAMPLE SIZE.

Monahan plays PK in montreal, that doesn't make him an effective PKer. Who else do they have to beat out?
Again he doesn't play PK over Hischier Haula Mcleod Lazar or Mercer in jersey.
He doesn't play PP over Hughes Hughes Hamilton Mercer Hischier Bratt Meier Holtz Toffoli. Maybe he can win that 10th spot tho over palat/haula and take the 30 seconds of PK time on the second unit after jack comes off. Oh wait, he won't because they'll want Haula out there to take faceoffs for that unit

The NHL world has something called free agency. Haula and Monahan were free to go out there and see what the world thought of them.

Haula got more money, more term, on a contender
Monahan got less money, a 1 year deal, on a bad team that doesn't even want to keep him.

The year before that:
Monahan was given away along with a 1st because nobody wanted him on his contract. Nobody would even take him along with a 2nd.
Haula was traded for Pavel Zacha.

Seems as though the hockey world has made it very clear who's more valued.

Comparable players who can't stay healthy are less valuable than players who can.

Stone is in a different tier than haula, so its an invalid comparison. But if you compare stone to the wingers in his tier, YES the injuries have an impact

Jake Allen exist but ok.

A goal is a goal. Would you say that Gally’s 30 goals season doesn’t count.

The half decade sample you take is so bias. You take the years he qas benched in Calgary to turn the stats to your advantage.

Evans (who’s the clone of Mcleod), Suzuki, Pearson, Ylonen, RHP are all defensive forward and Monahan is above them.

Monahan was ****ing injured every year for 3 years. No **** he doesn’t get as much money.

Ok, who is the better player between Stone and last year Huberdeau?

Your arguments doesn’t make sense

Lmaooo. Evans Suzuki Pearson Ylonen and RHP. LMAOOOOOO

Pearson was a true key part of vancouvers god awful penalty kill. Evans PK metrics suck, Ylonen and RHP lol. If you can't beat out depth AHL tweeners I don't know what to say.

Oh no I'm sorry I'll be sure to use stats from 2018 to compare players in 2023. You know what, screw monahan and haula. The devils should add 300 points and 100+ goals to their roster by adding the elite Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Phil Kessel to their roster. All available in free agency for free. All were elite 6 years ago and that truly outweighs everything since then

A goal is not a goal. When comparing players you have to think about situation

Monahan is getting 5 minutes a night on the power play standing in front of the net for tip ins. It's not a hard job. The devils had nathan bastian do it last year.

I'd be impressed if it was leading to an effective power play. But your PP is 6/29.

Monahan has produced 2 PP points in 31 minutes.
Haula has produced 1 PP goal in 3 minutes. Playing 5 less minutes a night because his team has good players ahead of him.

His points have come against Chicago, CBJ, Buffalo. Those teams ranked bottom 7 in the league defensively last year. None have good goalies. Washington was mediocre last year

Ghosted against the competent defenses of NJD and Minnesota

I'm very impressed by monahans work this year on a PK that gives up goals 27% of the time tho

The most overrated aspects of players is when fans reward them for simply existing on the PK, whether they suck at it or not

I'm very impressed by monahans work this year on a PK that gives up goals 27% of the time tho

The most overrated aspects of players is when fans reward them for simply existing on the PK, whether they suck at it or not

Evans is litterally Mcleod. Pearson is very goos on pk. RHP is better than a lot of players who plays pk on a lot of teams

Comparing old guys with 30 years old I see. No sense

Haula has better teammates and less points.

Pp is awful cuz everyone wants to pass to Caufield

He was good against Min, just didn’t score pts

He normally isn’t on the ice when there is a pk goal

You are so bias and closed minded. Keep convincing yourself that Haula is better. This conversation is going nowhere

Monahan has let up 9 goals/60 on the PK in MTL
Haula 8/60 in jersey

Haula has done it on a multitude of teams.

Me personally I'd rather have 10x as much time playing where my team has an extra guy.

You claimed Monahan better on faceoffs. Stats don't back that up
You claimed Monahan better defensively. Stats don't back that up
You claimed monahan better on PK. Stats don't back that up.
You claimed monahan has significantly more offensive production. Stats don't back that up

The bias is coming from you, trying desperately to convince yourself of something.

The market doesn't lie, and the NHL world values haula more than Monahan

1 goal, such a big difference

Monahan is second in the league in faceoff %

I have said they are pretty similar and stats back that

Monahan literally has more offensive production even when you take into account his last seasons in Calgary

You just can’t admit Monahan is better than prime Haula

He got 2m cuz he was ****ing injured. How hard is it to understand

A 6 game sample size on faceoffs or a 5 year sample size. Wonder which one is more accurate.

He isn’t better than prime haula. Because haula is better at every other aspect of hockey

Haula has been equally productive offensively, better defensively, better on the faceoffs, and healthier over the last HALF DECADE. He's better

His analytics are below mid, he can't stay healthy, and his offensive production over the last 5 years hasn't been better than haulas. The market showed his worth as a UFA. It was a 1 year dirt cheap deal that wasn't even with a contender

last 5 yrs 11 pts less then haula and haula played 45 more games *****

I am unmoved by a 6 game sample size.

Haula has had a faceoff% of 54% over the last half decade. Monahan 52%. Jake evans about 51%. Hischier 53%. Mcleod 57%. Suzuki 47%. Nosek 54%. Lazar 50%

Ranked:
Mcleod
Nosek
Haula
Hischier
Monahan
Evans
Lazar
Suzuki

0.55 ppg for haula since 19-20
0.56 for monahan since 19-20

Wow, very slightly more offensively productive while being worse at every other aspect and being unable to stay on the ice. Very much a guy I want.

200 pts more 3 yrs younger in 70 more games haulas ****
