Description
This team just took Vegas to shootout after dominating 2 whole periods. Stellar play from Suzuki, Guhle, Barron, Montembeault.

Newhook hit 3 posts in 2 shots, unlucky but he looked good.

Monahan doesn't have a 5v5 goal, 2shg and 2ppg. Needs to be centering that 2nd line.

Slaf deserves time in the AHL. He's making good reads, but there's still confidence issues when shooting. Ideally, try him on line 1 and let him play WJC to bring Roy up for those 9 games. Before that, give him 2 or 3 in the AHL.

Point is, Habs look great in their development. They're a very hard working team that'd run through brick walls for their coach. Just imagine this team with Dach, Hutson, Reinbacher, Mailloux, Roy, Heineman, Farrell all in mind. It's looking good

Caufield ain't a shootout guy. He always goes for the shot and everyone knows it.

"Took them to the shootout"

Bruh, I watched the highlights, half the regulation goals for the Habs were because Aiden Hill whiffed a puck straight to Monahan, and proceeded to YEET himself out of the way so that Monahan had an empty net to shoot at from 20 feet out. Luck took the habs to the shootout, not because they kept up with Vegas.

after the Shorthanded goal, Vegas had around 40mins in which they only put 13 shots on net vs Mtl's around 30. During that time, Vegas had a penalty shot and took 4 penalties. They didn't score a single 5v5 goal on Mtl tonight, didn't score in the 3rd or overtime, and won on their 4th shootout attempt. There were a couple times 5v5 where Vegas couldn't touch the puck. Mtl was 60% in the faceoff dot to Vegas' 40%.

If that's luck then I better go hunting for Leprechauns.

Yeah... There was 14 minutes where VGK didn't have a shot on goal in the 2nd including 2 power plays. MSL finally got a full 60 from his team and it looked great even though we lost.

I agree with you, something needs to be done about the 2nd line. I would want Monahan to get a few games with Slaf before we send him down. Slaf needs a Center like Dach or Monahan who is creative, slows the game down, and can finish. Right now he's only playing with the speedsters.

I think once Dvorak comes back, my lines would be:

CC - Zuke - RHP
Newhook - Monahan - Slaf
Pearson - Dvorak - Anderson
Armia - Evans - Gallagher

I'd like to see that for a few games. Pez and Ylonen will have to wait their turn.

So you saw 2 minutes worth of game highlights and think you know how the game was played?! You're an a** clown if you are being serious! Habs totally took over the game after the Knights scored their 2nd goal, yes Hill took himself out of the play when Monahan scored but what that 30 second clip doesn't show is what lead to him taking himself out of the play. Habs were taking the play to Vegas all night forcing Hill to try to make plays on his own. Habs only allowed 13 shots (2 in the second, 5 in the 3rd and 6 in OT) after the 1st, won 60% of the faceoffs and forced the Knights to block another 18 shots in the game. Sorry if it is just too much for you to comprehend but the Habs absolutely dominated this game, they made the Knights look like a peewee team and if not for Hill playing absolutely lights out, they probably wouldn't have even gotten to OT.

I'm sure Cassidy was not happy with that win. I think the point though, is that the Habs played their best game and still couldn't win. It's evolving, but the 2nd line is a **** show. Would it have been different with Dach? Probably. But something has got to give.

Here's hoping that Monahan can light their fire.

You're right. They're playing a developing player on a line of speedsters. It's probably not great for him. Get Monahan on that line asap.

Personally, I wouldn't swap Monahan, he Gally and Pearson are all playing great together. I am not sure what to do with the 2nd line though cause it's clearly not working. Maybe the answer I'd to send down Slaf and bring up Roy but I am not convinced sending Slaf down is the answer. I would maybe consider trying 4 scoring lines by moving Anderson down with Evans and swapping Armia out for Roy and creating the following lineup

Caufield-Suzuki-RHP
Slaf-Newhook-Roy
Pearson-Monahan-Gallagher
Ylonen-Evans-Anderson

Guhle-Barron
Matheson-Kovacevic
Xhekaj-Harris
