Description
Its fun to see them win... but let's not lose focus on the goal : winning the cup... not being a perennial bubble team.

Sell ALL the players that can be sold... while they are hot.

Sell Monahan, Xhekaj, Pearson and try to get rid of Anderson and Dvorak.

And if we can't get a top 10 pick... trade assets for another young stud... I'd love to take a chance on Laffy.
I expect NYR to hate on this trade - but a healthy Monahan will be great help for them in the playoffs and Xhekaj will bring the needed physicality (and he can actually contribute).

The lines are for me.

Not the worst proposal for NYR, but dont think theyll take it.

Problem is guys like Dvorak, Anderson, Armia have pretty ugly value and really doubt theres any market of buyers out there for them. Allen is having a good year, but overpaid as a backup and too old to be a starter. Gallagher is almost impossible to move.

Savard and Pearsen might have some value, but I can;t really see a 2nd or better for either, and you'll be hard pressed to replace Savard at that $$$$.

So not sure if COLLECTIVELY theres any return for some of these guys if they could be moved.

My question is where does Monahan play on NY with zibanejad chytil and trocheck all on center. So that means we would trade laf for a 4th line center, a bottom 6 dman, and a first that shouldn't be good but might because Calgary is a mess. And don't give me the dumping goodrow when he brings a lot to the team and a buyout isn't that bad for the rangers if they wanter to trade him

Monahan can also play wing... and he is leading NHL centers in faceoff %. Plays PP and PK - and he is putting up points.

If by TD Laffy barealy gest 30 pts... you have to consider it, by then he won't be worth as much. So its the gamble for NYR.

I don't expect to get much - it's mostly about making roster spots for our youngters. If their play and point total increases because the habs are playing well, they will be easier to move.

Lets talk again when Laffy finished the season at 35 pts. Then maybe you'll change your mind.

Then the offer will be Armia 1 for 1 smile

Jokes aside, I do hope he gets going this year.

Monahan would have no role on NYR's pp. maybe pp2 but even then. Kreider fully occuplies the tip drill/net front role, where he is the best in the league at that, and that's what monahan is currently doing on MTL's PP. not play driving, but standing in front of the net

Laf looks more comfortable on wing with Chytil and Panarin. Had a great finish on setup from Panarin this week...hopefully he can keep growing as they get used to Lav's system and new linemates.

In this deal, you're basically replacing Laf with Monahan, and removing Goodrow from the lineup. You're also putting NYR in position of trading Jones, or risk losing him on the waiver wire, and letting Xhekaj, Gustafsson, and Schneider battle it out for 2 spots in the lineup. I don't think this moves the needle at all for Rangers, and probably makes them worse in the short and long-term.

Yeah, just like how the Habs would just offer sheet him this past off season. Rangers are happy to keep him, but keep dreaming.
