Description
I think we keep Mittelstadt long-term. If he can improve in the dot he's a legit 2nd line centre. That gives us incredible depth down the middle. I'd say keep Savoie in the AHL as 1st call up in case of injury and Benson unfortunately has to play in the WHL again, but he needs to add strength undoubtedly so more development time will assist with that. Kulich and Rosen are full-time top 9 contributors next season, no doubt in my mind. Ryan Johnson makes the jump and Clifton is a scratch more often than not.

With the young players coming up I think Jokiharju is moved, unless we can sign him as a 3rd pair guy for around 3-3.5 mil. Otherwise I'd move him for a centre with good faceoff stats and PK abilities. Krebs I don't see a spot for moving forward, would swap him for a RHD prospect or package him and other prospects in a big trade for a young top 4 RHD (I don't see that as a likely thing). To round out the top 4 then I say you go hard after guys like Roy or Pesce.

Joki has played well this season so far but as of now I'm not comfortable keeping him as a top 4 D moving forward. He's still 3rd pair guy imo

Caps pass, they already have their own version of Krebs in Lapierre and don't have anyone else like Iorio in their system

I think SJ would be tempted at this. I really like sturm and he's on a good contract but Sharks really need a D-man other than Ferraro who can actually move the puck, especially on that Right side

I dont think Sabres will be looking for another expensive defender. Jokiharju is good enough, and would cost half of Roy's aav

Middlestadt 7x6 would be a cap friendly contract you'd be looking to dump for years

They need to pause on the long term commitments until this current core shows any semblance of being able to play playoff level hockey. I'm not even necessarily contesting that individually they haven't earned their deals, just that if this core can't get into the playoffs, they're going to want the flexibility to reset if necessary.

How lol. He'd be 32 by the end of the deal and 6 mil for a 2nd line centre who is a 60+ point guy? That's a great contract

6m for a guy who has never seen 60 pts. If you make deals like that you'll be in cap hell real fast

He had 59 points last year and on pace for 70 this year. He's been our most consistent forward this season so far. You have no evidence to your point, look at what other guys putting up similar points are getting and 6 mil would be right at the median
