This is an interesting idea if CGY enters a rebuild, but they can probably get a 2nd for Tanev at the deadline, so is it really the best value? I think Markstrom and Campbell are pretty much on par in terms of being bottom 10 goalies in the league. You're acquiring a 1st rounder and cutting a million in AAV for an extra year of term. Is that the worst deal to acquire a 1st rounder? Certainly not. I think if Ceci is taken out it's fair, but not sure EDM is cap compliant in that scenario.

Ceci is in there precisely to balance the cap. Ceci has an extra year on his contract compared to Tanev too but Calgary can live with that, it gives them more time to develop (Poirier most likely) or acquire a younger replacement.

What do you think of Markstrom? He’s really regressed behind what I think should be a good defense. Campbell is barely worth the minimum, so his contract is terrible to another level … but I’ve been surprised at how Markstrom has been playing

I've never liked Markstrom but I won't go into why... I don't want to be giving the trolls more ammunition to shoot down Markstrom trades with.
