Lol Wheeler has a full NTC so he isn’t being traded and his cap hit is $800k so they don’t need to waive him

The problem is NYR fans are expecting 90 point wheeler when he’s just a complementary piece at 37 years old. He’s been fine

Ah, yes..yet another unrealistic expectation.

Settle down. Wheeler is 37, not 27. His production doesn't play part in his leadership, as part of this team; at $800k, he wasn't brought here to light it up.

I, too, want to see Othmann here in NY, but it's an opportunity to develop further. At the same time, the team isn't hurting. If it was a moment of desperation, I'd agree with you.

But, THIS is proving to be the right path for NYR, including Wheeler.

Nah the problem is wheeler would probably agreed that when a guy goes to ur team as a favor on a low cap deal you don't bury him in the ahl or on the depth chart, give him the chance to leave to a team, that he wants to go to

Why would he waive his NTC? He understands the team and his role and probably doesn’t want to relocate

Also why would another team want him after seeing him struggle so far? They would put him in the bottom 6 as well lol

I feel like i've. been misunderstood, im not trading Wheeler because he's been bad, he's been fine. however i do think Othmann would do better so at the end of the day you have to replace wheeler. And instead of just keeping him to rot and not play id trade him to a team he wants to go to.

Cause he'd want to play. Many teams would take wheeler for free no strings attached, And again it isnt ab having him in the bottom six, in this situation he wouldn't play. So why would he waive his NTC because he could guarantee that he would go to a team that he wants to play for

He wanted to come here lol he knew he wasn’t going to play a lot given this team’s roster

If he’s gone, you really want Pitlick, goodrow, vesey taking his spot? Lol

Othmann needs play in the AHL. I don’t know why NYR fans are so obsessed over rushing and ruining prospects

If you’re a fan of Cuylle and his game, then he’s the perfect example of why Othmann needs a full year in the AHL

When he signed, he signed for less than he could have gotten elsewhere. He also was vocal about knowing time/role would be limited and less than he used to have in WPG. If he plays 4th line for the rest of the season with 6-10 games of scratch for rest. He will be happy. Don’t expect him to break 35 points though.
