Description

Saw this proposal from a Leafs fan. I'd 100% do it as a Hawks fan. Samsanov would replace Mrazek for the rest of the year as the veteran goalie. Would still give bulk of the time to Arvid/Drew/Jaxston though. Klinger would get waive and sent to Rockford. The hardest part about all of it though...is Treliving signed all three of these guys. We're to expect he's a mature enough adult that after 13 games he can take three Loses on the signings??? I don't see him doing that.

I'd honestly drop the NYI 3rd and still do this. Hawks don't use up a retention slot. Klinger is off the books after this year. We get a little tryout to see if Samsonov likes it in CHI and might take a 1 year prove it deal next year...we still need a veteran goalie next season. Reaves is such a low contract...it'll be fine.

I like it. And if they really don't want Reaves around they can just buyout his contract for next to nothing.

Like it for the Hawks. Although I don't want Reaves anywhere around this team. And I'd probably waive Zaitsev to Rockford and keep Klingberg. At least he provides some offense. Not sure the Leafs spend a 1st to move those guys but it sure does clear out their bad contracts.

I have no issue waiving BOTH Zaitsev and Klinger. The only issue I have with Klinger is that I don't want him on the ice with any rookie...which is really hard to do. Only Tinordi would fit as his partner imo. He has negative value when it comes to helping NHL talent develop. He can't play defense and that's typically where rookies struggle...the defensive side.

I only make this deal if it comes with an iron clad promise that Reaves never puts on a Blackhawks jersey.

I immediately send Zaitsev to Rockford and Klingberg only plays if two of the the other top seven; I’m including Phillips; gets injured.
