I think something people seem to get wrong is the return when HUGE name players get moved.

1) You're never going the type of return that makes fans happy. EDM fans will want 70 1sts and their entire farm system lol.

2) The motive changes the return. If this was to rebuild, then sure, the trade can be loaded with top futures.

3) This isn't to rebuild. It's to stay competitive. EDM FINALLY gets real goaltending and for the first time has quality depth and Boston gets a top five player in the world while still keeping their top goalie.

Seems like a win to me.

Because Detroit is a young up and coming team, Why would he want to go to Boston? Boston's been lucky so far. With what they're going to lose in the next 2-3 years. There's no way they're maintaining their momentum.

I realize your goaltending tandem has set a high bar in having a goalie tandem, but you're getting Leon friggin Draisaitl while keeping Ullmark. I mean, Skinner doesn't have to be part of the deal, I just figured he's still a decent back-up with potential given his age.

And if you're balking at Draisaitl because of Zacha? You've been taking too many trips to the packie my friend.

I mean, that's true of any team in the NHL, but they're still going to be better than DET for the next two or three years and getting Leon prolongs that.

The package in of itself is more than what they’d like to pay without Skinner. With him it’s a no go. Nor can they add 2.5m to the cap. Without him maybe they consider, but they’d still try to replace Zacha with Debrusk.


My go to offer has been Ully/Debrusk/1st/Lysell/Merkulov for Drai. Negotiate from there. 🤷🏻‍♂️

But Boston does not have the ability to make a trade that increases their cap at all, much lees by close to 3m. Taking back unwanted cap, particularly in goal where it they don’t need it is not hsppening.
