****emo isn't a Pred anymore. LA claimed him off waivers today.

I think you're asking a bit too much for Lankinen, Foudy, and Carrier/Trenin. Not quite enough for a retained Barrie, or Sissons.

Canucks paid a 5th round pick for Bear with retention. Why is Fabbro worth a 1st?

Trading Campbell would cost EDM at least two 1sts alone.

Then they wouldn’t move him
And especially not in this deal

Even if u take out the two 1sts & Campbell,
it’s still a crap ton for Saros

I agree it makes more sense for EDM to buy out Campbell, than to trade him. Especially trying to trade him to team that already has two buy outs and two multi-year retained salaries on the books.

I don't think the rest of the package is an amazing offer for Saros, but I guess it depends on how much upside one sees in in that group of struggling and underwhelming prospects.

I don't think lankinen gets a second. That's kinda a lot for a backup.

Saros is awesome
But goalies *literally* NEVER get traded for that much
Never EVER

Well if those prospects have lost a lot of value,
then it doesn’t make sense for EDM to “sell low” on them & have than as part of the trade

Top goalies in their prime *literally* NEVER get traded. FLA got a haul (at least it looked like one, at the time) for Luongo in '06. NSH got a 1st, and two 2nds for Vokoun in '07, despite negotiating from a position of weakness, with the other GMs knowing the owner mandated a huge cost cutting sell-off. VAN got a top ten pick in '13 for Schneider, who wasn't even a starter yet.

And none of those are anywhere close to the bananas offer proposed above

1- Saros has a year left after this, which means that no extension can be signed before a trade

2- that means, the team who might trade for him is taking a HUGE RISK that he’ll sign (lowering his trade value bc of the uncertainty) and will have to basically give Saros whatever he wants (again, lowering his trade value)

3- not many teams that would want Saros can afford the HUGE contract he’ll demand, which lowers the team’s realistically bidding on him (AGAIN, lowering his trade value)

4- and even lowering the teams bidding on him even further,
how many will wanna give a 30year old goalie(his age when this contract is up) an 8year extension for HUGE $$$ that Saros will dictate???
Guess what that does to his trade value?!

This isn’t gonna be a situation where u have half the league bidding on him
NSH will be lucky to have 2 or 3 teams seriously interested

He’s not gonna get traded for a haul
Maybe that means he’s not traded at all
But u guys are NUTS thinking NSH is gonna get some massive return- it will not happen

VGK isn’t trading a first for that. We don’t need a defenseman. We’re missing one top 6 type forward

None of those trades had one of the worst contracts in the NHL coming back with the return.

Saros not being a rental does not somehow make him less valuable. The team acquiring him would be thrilled to get another cheap year from him. They'll have more time to negotiate a new contract, and could always sell him as a rental at the next deadline, if they can't work something out.

Saros only gets traded if there's a haul coming back. Trotz has been vocal about not wanting to trade him. When NSH explored a Saros trade last deadline, the reported ask was two 1sts and 2-3 top prospects. Trotz isn't going to let a supserstar go for a 2nd a cap dump or something, because some fans have a "GoaLiES aReN'T WorTh VeRy mUCh" mentality. Lots of fans think a two-way contract means a player is waiver exempt - they're not right either.

And neither will a Saros trade in REAL LIFE

But if you just wanna keep dwelling on this specific proposed trade, all I’m gonna say is that there’s no way in hell that it actually happens
