Way too much to be giving up for an expiring ufa. Even if he was signed you probably only want to be giving up two 1sts at most.

If the Canes were in a rebuild stage, sure. But since they are not in a rebuilding stage, but are actively competing for a cup, Canes pass. Waddell has already confirmed that Pesce isn’t being moved. No reason to downgrade the roster and lessen their cup chances for 3 mid/late 1sts that won’t even have a chance to break into the roster for about 3 or so years after they are drafted.

If you can get 3 1st round picks for a UFA to be an 2 bottom 6 players, you do it, immediately, regardless of contender status.

Pesce isn’t as integral to team success as some Canes’ fan think. His trade value is vastly overstated on this site.
