I wondered that at the draft. I remember also wondering if Yzerman made a mistake drafting Cossa. Too bad they missed out on Wyatt Johnston. 😬

Oilers have no one to rely on. Skinner is terrible, Campbell can't make a save in the AHL. They may actually be in trouble

They already had a good goalie prospect in Skinner even if he wasn't as good as Wallstedt. For a team that lacked top 6 talent outside of McDavid, Draisaitl, and RNH drafting a winger made sense. They drafted based on need. They went on to sign Hyman in FA and Kane when his contract was terminated that year.

I was really high on Johnston at the time of the draft. I hated that trade up and even though I think Cossa will be good, could have probably drafting goalies later and took a chance. I never understood why we passed on Dustin Wolf.

If Wolf was on their radar then they probably ultimately passed on him because of size.

I thought he was going way higher than he did, kid put up really good numbers in his draft year.

At some point Minnesota is going to give Wallstedt a chance, could you secure Fillip Gustavsson. Between him and Skinner, hopefully one re-emerges.

Not many people viewed Wyatt Johnson as highly as they should have.

Also, anyone find it ironic that Boston has a goalie at Providence College who looks pretty damn good from that same draft in Phillip Svedeback. Big athletic kid who needs some skill development, but super talented

Skinner has strung 3 quality games together and is finding traction. He is going to play a lot so hopefully this helps with some of the consistency issues.

Skinner was more consistent last season during the regular season but faltered in the playoffs. Wonder how he will do this year
