Kulich isn't being traded for anything less than a current upgraded in their top four or top six. He isn't being traded for futures.

Nothing against Johnson, but I would argue that Kovacevic is an interesting and affordable option in his spot. Also... You generally need 8 defensemen to get through a season.

This offer is a mixed bag. Kovacevic to help today. Mailloux to help tomorrow. So maybe not what you are looking for, but can you speak to value? Is the value fair?

Because you don't believe in Mailloux as a future piece to help the Sabres?

Because Kulich is maybe the most accomplished AHL teenager ever and isn't a sexual predator.

Kulich isn't available unless it's for an elite young nhl player

Ryan Johnson has been playing well enough that they have been going 11 forwards and 7 D because they don't want to send him down. Erik Johnson has helped the PK immensely this season so there's probably no chance that they replace him. Question marks lie with Connor Clifton but since they just signed him in FA I don't think they have a plan to move on from him. This package isn't worth it at the cost of Kulich. A bottom pairing/7th dman and a prospect with off the ice issues isn't worth it for the Sabres.

1) The NHL has cleared him
2) He shared a picture of a girl in her underwear without her permission. Disgusting and reprehensible, but he has worked really hard in the community to rehabilitate himself and while he can never completely divest himself, labelling him a "sexual predator" seems overly harsh

Anyway, nice chatting with you.

I think we can say the off ice issues are in his past, or the NHL would never have cleared him.

Anyway, putting the offer on the table aside, do you think the Sabres are likely to trade Kulich? After the signings of Cozens and TT, and with the play of Mittelstadt, it's hard to imagine finding a role for Kulich, don't you think?

Zero chance sabres trade kulich. Other prospects are first to go

The issue with this trade is the sabres are in need of impact top 6 forwards, any trade that includes Kulich will see him packaged with other assets to acquire something big. There isn't much value for the sabres in the pieces you're giving us - bottom pair defensemen are easy to find. You're trying to trade away expendable pieces for A-level prospect. I mean, come on, you can't be shocked sabres fans are shooting this down easily.

Kovacevic had more Giveaways than Blocked shots, hell almost had more Giveaways than hits. Yeah Buffalo Declines.

Sabres drafted Kulich to play the wing most likely so there's that.

That's untrue. 30 BS 15 Hits 17 Giveaways. That's more BS than giveaways and more giveaways than hits.
Not that it matters. It isn't the critique you think it is. He's doing 80% defensive deployment on a developing team. It's interesting that he doesn't have more giveaways.

I'm not debating the proposal, it's just poor argument against the value of a player (not just Kovacevic) when stats are presented wrong or out of context.

He had 90 Giveaways last year and 86 blocked shots, he had 93 hits last year. No BS, didn't even bring his numbers up this year. No way either bring Kulich back

Sorry, didn't realize you meant last season. Keep in mind that was his rookie year as part of a really green defensive core that had a lot of significant injuries.
Again, not debating the proposal, (simply because nobody is going to agree on Mailloux's value due to bias).

Don't dismiss a good defenseman/player because a number sticks out without checking the context though.
Kovacevic still has room to improve and he's currently providing good value in an unforgiving role on a bad team.
Any coach would love to have a defender they can throw out in the defensive zone without concern (he's also a 0 goal differential at even strength) and any GM would love his contract (near league minimum until the end of next season). There's value to be had there at the right price.

OK, that number tells me he's careless with the puck and he's averaging that again this year almost. He is not worth Kulich

That's what I'm cautioning against. Poor insight from a raw number without regard for context.
You're ignoring that he's doing better in a tougher role, this is still a developing team, and a giveaway by a defender is often a result of poor outlets or a good forecheck.
If you are starting in your own zone 80% of the time you're more susceptible to being victimized under those circumstances.
A 25% jump in dzone starts would have to be mirrored by an equivalent jump in giveaways to suggest he is averaging the same amount as last season and that's not even taking into account that he's averaging almost 2 more minutes of ice time over last year.

No I understand that, but the Sabres Defense is still young and Developing, I don't need to add another one to the equation right know. I need better and with some Leadership or Mentor qualities

Kulich is NOT AVAILABLE like u think he is

1- Cozens, Mittelstadt & Kulich ALL play well on the wing also
We’been developing guys to play multiple positions for years, so that we have flexibility with our lineup. U can also include Savoie, Ostlund & Tage Thompson.
ALL play Center AND on the wing

2- if we were to trade Kulich (or any other top prospect), for a defenseman, it would be for a TOP PAIR quality guy- even if that means we’d have to add
There’s no point in trading for a middle pair/bottom pair guy,
we already have PLENTY of that

First off, I appreciate your response. I will share my perspective which I'm sure you won't agree with, but hopefully can share some insights into my thinking:

In his 1st AHL season Kulich averaged 0.74 PPGs as a forward. In his 2nd AHL season he is averaging 1.0 PPGs.

By contrast Mailloux is currently averaging 0.6 PPGs as a defensemen, with limited power play time (and playing on a bottom feeding team).

It feels genuinely like Sabres fans feel Kulich is the next Elias Pettersson... He's pretty good. PPG stats in the AHL are OK. But honestly, if he was an A prospect, wouldn't he be in the NHL right now? The Habs have Josh Roy for example. He is currently averaging more points in his AHL rookie season than Kulich was, but we do not believe he will necessarily be a 1st line player.

Yes it's intriguing that he did it as an 18/19 year old, but I maintain that if he was the player you think he is, he would be playing in Buffalo today.
