Edmonton declines this handily. Until we have confirmation that McDavid and Draisaitl are actually leaving, it's best to operate under the assumption that Leon will sign a one-year extension to stick around with his best friend for another year. Including this season, Edmonton's current window is three years. The only trade that would look to keep Edmonton contending where they should consider Leon Draisaitl's name in is for Zibanejad, as the Rangers are offering a piece that can immediately plug into the role Leon fills, plus whatever accessory pieces are included. I would happily consider the Hurricanes if and only if Edmonton is committing to admitting their failure and blowing it all up.

Nikishin is an awesome piece but the first will amount to being a late pick. Pesce is a free agent this summer: ignoring the condition I initially set in this reply, if you think Draisaitl is about to hightail it out of town, what justification do you have for an expiring American coming to Edmonton and making it a long-term gig?

Absolutely no chance the Oilers even consider that, a former Hart Trophy winner in his prime who puts up ridiculous numbers in the playoffs in exchange for a rental dman, a prospect and a 1st? CAR wpuld need to add Necas and Svechnikov to even get EDM's attention.

Oilers need a goalie. Drai is top 5 player - on arguably the best value contract - in the league : a 2nd pairing dman, prospect & late 1st is not equal value.

Ok If you think that’s fair I guess maybe the sens should trade Stuzle and Sanderson for Pesce seems fair to me

I think Nikishin is the real deal, a top defensive prospect in the game. I think He'd be an NHLer right now if he weren't in the K. WITH THAT SAID I think its still off on value UNLESS Drai is adamant he's not re-signing in Edmonton, the Oilers are still bad, and he is open to re-signing elsewhere. Lots of ifs there though. I think its more likely Edmonton turns things around and is competing and needs Drai more than they have to sell him off though.
