Edmonton declines this handily. Until we have confirmation that McDavid and Draisaitl are actually leaving, it's best to operate under the assumption that Leon will sign a one-year extension to stick around with his best friend for another year. Including this season, Edmonton's current window is three years. The only trade that would look to keep Edmonton contending where they should consider Leon Draisaitl's name in is for Zibanejad, as the Rangers are offering a piece that can immediately plug into the role Leon fills, plus whatever accessory pieces are included. I would happily consider the Hurricanes if and only if Edmonton is committing to admitting their failure and blowing it all up.
Nikishin is an awesome piece but the first will amount to being a late pick. Pesce is a free agent this summer: ignoring the condition I initially set in this reply, if you think Draisaitl is about to hightail it out of town, what justification do you have for an expiring American coming to Edmonton and making it a long-term gig?
