Jets trade for a RHD

Created by: Howie
Team: 2023-24 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 28, 2023
Published: Nov. 28, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Saw this trade on another agm so don't flame me for the trade. https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/4726672 is the agm based on lmk if any changes need to be made to nyi trade.
Trades
1.
WPG
  1. Newkirk, Reece
  2. Pulock, Ryan
Additional Details:
Jets get a top 4 rhd with term who is from Manitoba. There's no guarantee he waives his ntc but playing closer to home on a team that is looking to contend may be interested. Being from Manitoba may give the jets a better chance in that regard. Also get Newkirk who was added for roster spot and would be assigned to the jets echl team.
NYI
  1. Lucius, Chaz
  2. Schmidt, Nate
  3. 2024 1st round pick (WPG)
  4. 2025 2nd round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Jets pay a 2nd to trade away schmidt. Chaz and the 2024 first are about 2 firsts worth so if the jets need to add another prospect (torgersson, kniazev, kuzmin, etc) could be added as well or another mid pick like a 3rd.
2.
WPG
  1. 2025 5th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Jets get a 5th for a guy that is not in the lineup and cleans up the backlog of dmen
CGY
  1. Stanley, Logan
Additional Details:
Calgary gets a nhl player to play if they decide to trade away some of their nhl dmen for futures. Stanley is 6'7 and still young so he may have more to give

Well I don't think that Isles fans can scoff at the value here, I'm not sure that team is in the rebuild phase yet. Giving NYI a bunch of futures (and that's what the Jets are willing to give up this year) would only work if they are willing to rebuild and have an RHD to fill in those top pairing minutes.

The pessimist in me also says Pulock doesn't waive for Winnipeg (If you could choose between NYC or the city they where they shoot "New York" scenes in hallmark movies, which would you pick?). Winning would be the main attraction for him, but Winnipeg is just one of many teams who can win by adding a top pair RHD.

That being said, Chevy is the magic man. If he could make a deal for a player like Pulock (with that beauty of a contract too) while only giving up those assets, it might go down as one of his best trades made during his tenure in WPG. This is a dream scenario for the Jets, exciting to even think about.

This would make the Jets an instant contender, adding a 2c on top of Pulock would make them instant favourites for the cup this year.
Kyle_Okposo_Lover and BatVader liked this.

Yea this is my AGM lol.

The hart truth is that with current management, a rebuild isnt gonna happen, even tho it should.

However, I think this offseason we could see Lou be "forced" to retire, fire Lane and rebuild , or rather retool where we send off Pulock and Pelech, amongst others.

Pulock I think would be willing to waive rn if the team did bad enough this season. Plus he has lost the #1RD job to Dobson and he would probably prefer to be that guy somewhere else

Yeah, I’d consider Stanley as a reclamation project, especially if we moved Zadorov. Not sure he’s worth a 5th though, maybe Oesterle, Jake Boltman or a 7th
