Description
I think while Rust should be placed on the second line to hopefully give the second line a jolt. The offence may be working on the ice but they need more results. Luckily Rust can work with both Sid and Geno. I like the third line consisting of DOC-Eller-Zoho. I think I’d play either Nylander, Hinny, Harkins with Sid and Jake. To get even more experimental I think you could try out Acciari in the top 6.
On defence if Middleton would be a guy we can get somehow it should 100% be done. After that I’m not sure who you’d play in Ruhwedel’s place while he’s out. Whoever plays the more better game between Ludvig or Shea.
I’ve also just been sulking over how bad the team has turned out so far. Powerplay has cost us so many games. They literally have only one plan on the powerplay and that’s to set up either Karlsson or Geno for a one timer. They don’t do anything creative at all. Stupid. Literally everything else has been fine. Just not the powerplay.
Trades
MIN
  1. Carter, Jeff
  2. Joseph, Pierre-Olivier
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (PIT)
  4. 2026 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
I thought about this once and I’m not entirely sure if Minnesota would move on from Middleton if they keep struggling. But who knows. Middleton is a guy I’ve always liked and I think he’d easily fit Sully’s system.

The 3 reasons I don't think this would work are
1) Carter's obvious no move
2) Minnesota doesn't have the cap space to make this trade happen anyway
3) Middleton is cheap and playing in the top4, POJ is getting scratched in favor of guys like Shea and Ludvig, I wouldn't call him a replacement exactly, if it cost around a 3rd rounder to dump 3mil in cap space (Carter's contract) and I'd say Middleton isn't worth a ton more than a 2nd + and average prospect but, without anyone to replace him in the top4 I don't think it makes much sense to do this deal at this moment
Just my opinion though, I could be wrong

I don't understand why my fellow Pens fans can't grasp the Carter situation.

It's up there with people thinking the Wild can trade Goligoski. If either were willing to waive their NMCs, they'd be Arizona Coyotes or Chicago Blackhawks by now for sure. lol

Nylander has proven time and time again that he's not an NHL level talent.

And after factoring in cap hit, results, and assets given up (in this scenario), I'd rather have POJ over Middleton.

Jeff Carter says no, (SHOCKER!)

Nylander can stay in the AHL, he does not have it.

Saying "i've been sulking over how bad the team has turned out so far" is hilarious. Such a spoiled fan base.

Team is:

Top 5 in 5v5 xGoals
Top 5 in combined SV%
Believe top 10 in PK

They fix the powerplay and Rakell comes back and breaks the ice and they're fine.

Take a deep breath, enjoy the ride. We have been blessed with three generational talents that have stuck together since they were drafted. Enjoy the rest of the ride.
