Honestly I don’t think wheeler really cares. He wasn’t brought in to be a high scoring player and he’s 37 so it could be his final year

COL should pass. Wheeler doesn’t PK and isn’t exactly a defensive guy. At least with Tatar you know you can flex him around the lineup as needed and he fits in the locker room.

Tatar doesn't PK either, so I'm not really concerned about that aspect. And while I'm no fan of Wheeler, taking a flyer on a guy who might be a better fit is worth thinking about. Most likely it's a pretty lateral move, but I thought it was an interesting idea.

I like Foligno, but I'm not sure where he fits in Colorado. I'd still take him, but I probably wouldn't be willing to offer more than some other team with a clearer need for his game would pay.

Except he does a little 6 minutes of shorthanded time this year. Wheeler doesn’t at all and I don’t think he skates well enough now at 37yrs old to offer anything the Avs couldn’t get size wise by just playing Tufte. Throw in the weird situation of him getting stripped of the captaincy in WPG and I would pass.
