Description
So this is more of an Ideal starting roster for 24-25

This is under a LOT of assumptions and essentially just my opinion obviously. Let me know what you think

1st priority is to sign RFA

Seider - I would personally be super unhappy if he signs for more than 10m per year I'm fine with 8 x 9m

Raymond - I believe does a bridge contract to maximize the next deal. If long term then im Ok with 8 x 7m at most but I don't think he does that.

Rasmussen / Veleno - I like them both but they're bottom 6 - middle 6 guys at best - dollar and term flexible here, just used these numbers to make Lindholm work.

2nd priority is pending UFA - Ultimately bringing back the ones I am thrilled to have here but hopeful some will take small discounts to stay, may not be perfect amount but if any of these guys wants substantially more than what I did here I would assume they would be gone.

Perron - Id like him to stay I love his game, veteran presence. Again, discounted.

Kane - This one I assume is a true one year and he likely wont be back, but I am very hopeful he works out and stays longer, so this is under the assumption he was good, but not amazing (If he kills it this year he's going to price himself out and not be back)

Sprong - No brainer IMO bring him back, small raise here but also could be pricing himself out of Detroit.

Gost - I assume he's likely pricing himself out of Detroit (I didn't want to work under the assumption everyone would take team friendly deals) - So he may be moved out at 23 deadline or just not brought back.

Maatta - Great bottom pairing guy but we have to make room, may have been moved out at the 23 deadline, Could be to any other team, I would be willing to take less than a 5th if no other offers exist without retention. I don't want to retain into 24-25

Reimer and Fischer - Either traded at the 23 deadline or let go in UFA if there is no market for them

I do not think there's any chance anyone would take either Chairot or Petry (or he wouldn't waive) in any case I left them assuming we really have no other option other than to give up assets to move them which I do not want to do.

Lastly the only UFA I would actively pursue likely.

Lindholm - I did what I would be comfortable with, I'm aware he Likely could get both higher dollar and longer term elsewhere, but the list of teams that are very good and have both of term and cap are fairly short.

I would also consider Stamkos dependent on term and dollar but I personally think he just takes a discount and retires in Tampa

I mean that's exactly what I wrote, He could get more. I would rather not sign him for more than 8 per, and if he signs at 8 then we just don't bring back Kane

If Raymond puts up 50+pts the bridge deal is still like 6ish million range. I don't think Kane or Sprong sign those deals and. Lindholm definitely thinks he's worth more than that.

Compher has been playing as well as Lindholm this season.

I'm not a lindholm guy and he's reportedly wants a ton

I think Kane will be more expensive. If he is resigned, that would mean his hip is OK, and he will ask for more money. My guess is a 2 year deal at 5M, Maybe a cheaper one year deal that is bonus heavy. If he resigns, I am not resigning Perron, unless very cheap.

I don't want to overpay for Lindholm. We are not bad at center. Compher is fine at 2C, and Copp/Veleno likewise at 3C. Could need a shutdown C for the fourth line though. Maybe Kasper kan fill that role in his rookie season?

I'm not saying Compher is better but he has been really good this season and we have him for the next 4 season at $5.1M. So why spend $8M+ on a guy that might beat out Compher rot the 2C spot for a season or 2 when Danielson and Kasper are ready to compete for that same spot.

I don't know what some Detroit fans on here are thinking but this we are in the playoffs and we have to buy no matter the price is just stupid. At least half the time they are trading prospects that are 5 - 10 years younger and have the same amount potential if not more than the player that are being trading for. They still need to make the playoffs and even if they make the playoffs do they make it out of the first round.

Take a step back and look at the big picture and for gods sake have some patience!!!

1. Based off this season's boost, Raymond fetches probably 5.5Mx3 if a bridge.
2. Lindholm probably wants more, but I doubt we even get him. Why would we get him? We just drafted Danielson who looked already NHL-ready before going down to lesser competition. Kasper has had a meh D+2, but it is still his D+2.
