It’s a cool idea but leafs will 100% not be using two firsts this year

                  That 100% is easily more like a 50 / 50

Heavily protected 2026 first with playoff conditions and a about the same for Tanev - Leafs tried for Zaddy and Tanev which would have cost nearly this price, except here they get a D with actual term. Not as bad as Zaddy plus Tanev for a first plus probably topi + more (retention) (why it didnt get done).

Using Hronek as a comparable for Ferraro is laughable. Everything in that comparable favors Hronek and most aren't small margins. From the underlying numbers to the hard numbers where Hronek scores 20 more points a season going into the trade. You'd have to make quite a case for that being the comparable value cause it's not his play making the case for him.

I never said theyre the same player. Hronek is a far better producer.
I am talking about Elliottes reports and probably Griers ask - theres no world where the Sharks move Ferraro for a 2nd + prospect.
The reports are far more knowledgeable than us and its not unwise to assume Grier is looking for a Hronek-esq return.

Elliotte suggested the price to be expensive and Sheng while also being a guy who will offer low ball trades (for the Sharks not the other team) - also concurs it would not be a cheap trade.

Didnt feel like redoing / reverting trades to add more context but thats my thought process.

The problem you have is that Hronek isn't just the better producer, he's the better defender as well. Everything in that comparison between the players favor Hronek heavily .. it's why using him as a comparable is laughable. There is nothing comparable about them when it comes to their play so why would you use them as a comparable for value?

Again I never said Ferraro is the same player as Hronek which youre really stuck on.
I stated Grier is most likely not trading Ferraro, with reported EXPENSIVE asks. A 2nd (which the leafs also dont own) is not expensive. Caroline who also reportedly has already made offers, if its expensive; we can assume the Sharks didnt accept a 2nd+prospect (no one special). I stated already in this thread this is based on the situation - and I suggest Grier is looking at the Hronek trade as "Yeah I am only trading my young D for something similar".

Just because you dont agree with it doesnt mean that its not what Grier is looking for. We see poor taste trades every year, not many trades result in a fair outcome. EK65 to OTT for example. Many viewed as a steal for SJS, ended up being a steal for OTT which no one, no one saw.

Yes you did. You did it when you used him as a comparable for value. If Hronek isn't the same player, or in any way comparable to Hronek as a player, why would his value be comparable?

I also stated it didnt want to revert the trades and redo/type and explained the quote in the comments with you.

If you didn't ignore my comments, why can't you answer the question I've asked in every post? If Hronek isn't a comparable player in any manner, why would you use his trade as a comparable in value?

You are saying they are worth the same because the situation is the same but situation influences value, it doesn't dictate it like a players play does. If McDavid is unhappy in Edmonton, it doesn't make every player who's unhappy with their location worth the same as McDavid. Much worse players don't become comparables to much better players because they are in the same situation. They are comparables through their play and their situation influences the value from there. Ferraro has been, and still is this season, a much worse player than Hronek was before he was traded. The comparison in value is laughable because of this. Them being in a similar situation doesn't change this.

I think they might but not for Ferraro

If a guy like Weegar was available, or Pelech/Pulock they might
