Mittelstadt is nearly a point per game player, Ostland is one of Buffalos top forward prospects, Wahlberg is half a step behind him and a 1st. You can say the oilers pass, but to pretend this offer is offensive is asinine

It’s not offensive, it’s just bad. When Draisaitl is one of the top offensive players in the league you don’t go for a bunch of “maybes”.. Ostlund, Wahlberg, and the pick are all big maybes. Draisaitl takes more sure things to get a deal, think quality over quantity. Deal would start with 1 of Cozens or Power.

This would be like someone offering a bunch of prospects for Dahlin. & don’t tell me you’d accept that cause you wouldn’t.

Depends on the offer for Dahlin. If Dahlin was pushing 30 with only 2 years left and the team still hasn't done anything with him, and they have no prospects because they kept trading their 1sts and 2nds for rentals that went nowhere and capdumps, yeah I'm definitely interested in 4 quality pieces coming back, 3 1sts and a 39th overall pick at that. Ostland and Wahlberg are not maybes, they are whens

They’re maybes. Nothing about prospect is guaranteed. Peyton Krebs went 17th overall and hasn’t turned into a top 6 forward like he was supposed to be.. ALL prospects are maybes.

& just because a player was drafted in the 1st round doesn’t mean they have the value of a 1st round pick. There’s 1 guaranteed value 1st round pick (which is the actual pick), Ostlund might be a late 1st round pick value so you could argue 2 1st round values but that’s it.

This offer is no where close to enough.

Mitts has first round value
Ostlund still has first round value
The first has first round value
Wahlberg would still have second round value

This is an offer of what Eichel got plus the value of taking the atrocious Campbell contract (at least another first right?) Drai is better, but has less control but also no injury risk (although Vegas felt comfortable with it). I see Edm probably declining but this isn’t nearly as bad as your making it.

While I won't go so far as to suggest it's absurd as far as a raw value calculation, it's not quite there and is definitely not a fit for what EDM would need out of a Drai trade. I'll sum it up concisely by saying that any serious offer for Drai would have to include at least one of either Savoie or Kulich, not the tier below.

Further, as the centerpiece, Mittelstadt isn't particularly appealing. I get he's scoring well and that's great but he doesn't do much for EDM. The core of the problem with this offer is that it's, in a sense, too greedy. You want to add a top-5 forward in the league without surrendering a major piece of BUF's future.

Drai’s untouchable.

If you wanted him though start with Dahlin not Middelstadt.

Ostland is on Savoie's and Kulich's level...

I disagree. The other two have demonstrated their skills on NA ice already and each have an individual claim that sets them a step a of above Östlund. Kulich has produced at rates that are rarely seen from an 18 & 19 year old in the AHL and dominated at the WJC while Savoie has been dominant through his junior career and, of relevance to EDM in this case, is a native of the area. Östlund is absolutely playing very well for a teenager in the SHL but, in the scope of the history of teenagers in the SHL and Allsvenskan, he doesn't standout to the same degree as the other two. Of course, it's entirely possible that his pro performance in Sweden is underselling his ability and that he'd thrive in NA (there are a few examples of such from the SHL) but that's exactly the point: we don't yet know. That additional layer of uncertainty is unacceptable for EDM in the context of such a trade.

Besides, if you truly believe that, then you should have no problem switching Östlund out for one of the two I mentioned wink

Sure I don't mind. Ostland was picked ahead of Kulich.
