Considering they likely won’t be able to afford a Guentzel extension, that point is rather moot. And frankly, I have a hard time seeing Waddell convince Rod that it’s a trade he should make. Turbo has returned to form, Martinook is a member of the leadership core, but also is a glue guy who has a very big impact on the hockey community in NC (plus Canes fans and Svech won’t be able to get the MISTA SVECHNIKOV anymore). As for Drury, I could see him getting moved if the Canes opt for a more immediate C upgrade, but now that Drury is starting to put up points, it’s less likely that they move him now, with their hopes being that he becomes the next J. Staal for the Canes.

Besides, with the uncertainty in net right now, there is a more pressing issue than acquiring a deadline rental forward.
