could get more in most of these deals tbh, plus youd need to retain in a few to make cap work.

Not sure what these players are worth but lately players have been getting traded for below market value

At least in the last 2+ years he's put respectable numbers at the NHL level and isn't getting paid $6m for 4 more years. It's also can be used as a test run... if he does well then we can sign him to a longer contract or if not we can just let him go. It's more about the cap situation of Gru than it is about the ability of either of them... Gru salary for 3+ years is not good in the slightest and would hamper our ability to sign quality talent

I think the Canes would love to do that. The only problem then becomes, who does he knock out if the lineup? If Svech is on the shelf again, it might be worthwhile, but that just delays the inevitable roster problem.

He can play on your third or 4th line

I get that’s where he can play, but he would only have a roster spot if there is an injury. I mean, the Canes are already being forced to utilize a top 6 winger on the 4th line, and with Noesen being one of the most consistent players so far this season, I find it unlikely that Tolvanen displaces him. Correct me if I’m wrong here, but Tolvanen doesn’t play center so that would remove Drury from the potential candidates. The rest of the bottom 6 consists of the MSF line, which doesn’t get broken up except in extreme circumstances, and only for a short time.

Unfortunately, without an injury, he would be the 13th forward in Carolina, only ahead of Lemiuex.
