One Tanev Scenario - Trading Calle Jarnkrok

Created by: OldNYIfan
Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 11, 2023
Published: Dec. 11, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
A third scenario for a Chris Tanev trade, this one assuming that Toronto can find a taker for Calle Jarnkrok and that it makes sense to get rid of a perfectly good third liner to make room for Tanev.

The Maple Leafs could stay under the cap by shuttling Holmberg and Steeves back and forth if they haven't accrued sufficient cap space by the time of the trades.

Note that Toronto would be able to keep Timmins (probably a better alternative than carrying two of Benoit/Lagesson/Lajoie) if Calgary retains $1.25 million on Tanev.

I would like to see how Timmins plays for a while being rushing into overpaying for rental Tanev. Timmins is playing well now that he's back from LTIR. and even to me surprisingly Benoit has been good replacing injured Girordano.
And really is Tanev THAT good?
The proposed trade Tanev and 3rd for Timmins, Jarnkrok) both good value at total of 3.1m and 1st seems steep to me.

Timmins wouldn't be of much, if any, interest to the Flames tbh

I'd much rather have Jarnkrok than the 3rd too... Flames could use a Right Shot Veteran like Jarnkrok imo and he would be a very useful 4C down the line as well and I don't mind his Cap Hit at all

Yeah, I thought not, with Klingberg, Murray and Muzzin on the LTIR list already.

You and I have had some lively exchanges in the past, but I haven't taken too much offense (I realize how touchy I am!) and highly respect your opinions!

Yeah, I'm pretty sensitive and didn't get why ppl were so harsh and why I was getting slammed at times. It took awhile to get used to this site and all the goings on/shenanigans and realizing many ppl on here are here to do just that = get under ppls skin lol. Some ppl clearly thrive on that. I don't get it, but to each their own and if you're gonna give it, best be able to take it back

I still get in to it with ppl, but typically only in response to their rude, condescending, snyde or snarky comments lol. I'm definitely not innocent or shy about spitting my fire & venom and get my back up too quickly, but I appreciate that we came around and I try to be open to what everybody has to say or offer on here

I still have a lot to learn about hockey, so I appreciate any and all feedback, especially yours My Friend. You Rock Man! Take Care Brother!!

Agree 100% with all of your sentiments, especially the one about always having something to learn even though I've been following hockey since the Islanders entered the League and I'm 76 years old -- as the highly knowledgeable @oilfire points out above, I have a mistake in this very thread.

I'm usually on the other side of it, you say things, you learn things and you get to roast leaf fans along the way.

I didn't know I was troll, until it was my team getting picked over like a rotting corpse. Now I realize every time you trade for someones favorite guy, you're trolling them.

And since I'm not going to stop, I just lean into it.
