Description
I do not like Geekie in the top 6, I get that Monty doesn't trust Poitras yet but he's just flat out a more creative player that's be able to get more out of Debrusk and Pasta. Besides that, no issues really.

I’m hoping Marchand/Coyle/Frederic turns into something. I’ve always felt two grinders like Coyle/Frederic could open something up for Marchand. The open issue is the amount of d zone starts , but I think that only gets mentioned when players are struggling to score.

I don’t understand the Geekie fascination by Montgomery, He has not shown the offensive upside of Poitras. He’s OK and worth his salary, but I would be trying Poitras in between DeBrusk and Pasta

I don't love Lauko this year and don't understand why he's been left in, I think Boqvist brings more upside to the 4th line. It's not a heavy line with Lucic out, let it be a speed and energy line with Boqvist - Beecher - Steen. Lauko can be put in if you think you need a heavier look as he can fight.

Also don't understand the Geekie thing, I've seen flashes of his hands and offensive ability but I agree that Poitras would bring more to that line.

I like giving Geekie a shot. Not going to be a long term thing, but you sold him on getting some more opportunities in the offseason and here's his shot. I think his size plays between some speed and a sharpshooter.

Guessing Monty also wants a 1st line he can put out against anybody in any situation, Poitras doesn't necessarily give you that luxury. If they're down late, could see Potsy slotting up there

Hard agree on Geekie, he looks like a fine 4th liner that won't kill you on the third line. Zero reason it shouldn't be poitras playing up top though. Whole reason we brought Monty in is cause he's meant to be good with young guys, not bury them. Really not a fan of the way he's been handling Poitras recently.

He trusts Geekie defensively more than Poitras, it's not uncommon for first-year/19yo players. Now, does Geekie's overall game brings more than Poitras? That's questionable.
