The way I look at it is easy:

If it plays out as I have, it gets the leafs out of paying massive money for Nylander and they get a hometown guy who is willing to take a paycut to play for Toronto. Additionally, they get a good younger defenseman and some 2nds to help for the future.

Then lets be honest, Samsonov's play last season was a fluke, he is back to his Washington ways and the Leafs need a solid goalie, they get that from Arizona along with a former top pairing defenseman in Dumba

Leafs want any other defender then dumba lol and Tampa can’t even resign nylander so that’s a pointless move for them makes no sense

I would probably make that Arizona trade but I need to think on it.

I would LOVE Stamkos on the Leafs. I just loved that he was fired up last playoffs and beating up on Matthews. I clearly like Nylander but I am sick of seeing him take his foot off the gas in very critical times defensively (like he slows down when a guy has a breakaway on an open net. Will the guy score... Probably. Will you stress him out if you are giving your all on the back check and it increases his likelihood of missing... Absolutely) It's the small things like that, where Nylander drives me nuts.

I will pass that Tampa trade. Domi would need to be removed from it regardless.

I don't see Arizona giving up Moser or Durzi but I would believe the other defenseman there are available

They don't have the cap to sign Nylander for anything close to what he wants so, no this isn't happening.

If sammy is reverting to terrible now, then what does it say that vej looking just as bad if not worse now? Hell, samsonov hasnt been half that bad, especially when you factor in that he basically has played two of his worst games with the flu
