That will never happen. Mercer isn't getting moved. Toffoli will be 32 while Dawson will be 23; Mercer is going to be a staple for this team for years to come. Gives me career long Devil vibe

I think you could get a better goalie/return than Gibson. If we're focused on goalies dare I suggest some players from an Eastern competitor like Hart. If we wanna shy away from that, out West a flyer on a package with Connor Ingram could be a interesting. Older goalie just worries me.

Goalies are such a hard market. I think either Arizona goalie…I wouldn’t mind Hart but I doubt Flyers trade with us

If we're adding Gibson's 6.4m unretained you might as well just extend Mercer

Maybe there is a scenario where Mercer gets traded, but I don’t think it would be to make space for Toffoli. I think Holtz is probably a bigger threat to his spot (but no reason we cannot keep both).

The fun scenario would be Zegras. The more realistic scenario would be a good veteran dman with 2-3 years on deal.

What would be your defensive targets in a mercer deal? And who would add in each deal?

Not sure…was just thinking of possible scenario. Would have to be a pretty darn good one.

Maybe a Johansen-for-Jones-esque superdeal? Who has a the right dman?

Guhle, Faber, Sanderson…
