Overpaid a lot! In current situation Pens should keep all their peaks.
And what will this change bring? What do you want to improve?

3C upgrade... is Hayes that bad now? Looks like he's on a 40ish point pace

- 3C upgrade is a great option for a contender. Pens should face the truth that a Wild Card spot is a maximum we can get. And we should start thinking about the future (aka rebuilding).
- 3C gets 40+ points only by playing PP. Pens are the most disappointing with PP this year. Slow Hayes can take a spot in front of goalies but will not help much.
- Blues paid 7th to take Hayes with 50% retention after his 50+ points season. You offer a way too much.
- Hayes is a good player but he is not known to be a leader, he will not improve the team's morale and motivation.

Idm giving up the 2nds i just wouldn’t touch the 1sts, imo their best shot is next year, just because carters coming off and the cap going up.

Not against this logic, but I really think Hayes can be had for less.

heavily pass.

1. don't think he's worth that much.
2. i'd rather the penguins test the market in the summer for another center that's a bit younger.

so many better option for depth in the bottom-6 than a slow guy we don't need taking up $3M+ on the cap for 3 more years... acquiring him would be worse than the Jeff Carter extension everybody is still mad about...
and besides, eller has been fine as a 3C...

Pens aren't rebuilding and have more than enough leadership

Acciari is 2M on the cap for 3 more years and he's older and less productive

Eller would be even better as a 4C

Carter was 5 years older when acquired

Acciari is fast, physical, great at face-offs, and elite on the penalty kill.
Eller as 4C would be an enormous luxury we can't afford.
Carter is washed. Period.

not sure how that was a valid counter but ok ig
