There’s isn’t a deal that exists where the leafs would move Minten or Cowan just isn’t gonna happen but if a guy like larsson became available I’m sure they’d spend a first on him but he doesn’t likely become available because he isn’t on the last year of his deal so no there isn’t a worth pick up to spend the first and zero chance they use it on a forward or goalie so your entire comment was pointless there thanks for that

Agree with your statement. But you have to recognize there are so few good Dmen (that are difference makers) available in trade. There maybe none available that are justifies bumping another Dman off the roster.

Yes 100% larsson isn’t available so can’t use a 1st on him tanev isn’t getting a first Hanifin likely doesn’t waive to come to Toronto so that’s out too I would be both surprised and pissed if they used a first on a goalie or forward

How stupid are the TML constantly trying to squeak by with average defense.
All they needed to was not sign Bertuzzi or Klingberg and boom there is 9.5M for a real top pair defense not bargain defense we need because we are always under cap crunch.
Until TML bite the bullet and trade a core four or stop signing 5.5 m forwards when we already have a way overpowered offense this wil always be the case.
TML need to fire Shanahan he is the one behind this stupidity.

Another big reason is they have ELC contracts for next season which is so important. They both bring the physical element the leafs need as well. The leafs next season do need to add at least 2 guys that can play everyday that can protect these young guys style.
