Always nice to be reminded that most fans perception of how good forwards are defensively is based almost entirely on reputation and not at all on actual results or play

Yeah that's absolutely wild... he's the quintessential defensive defensemen if you actually watch him

Sebastian Aho is a decent defensive forward but he's probably the worst in his own end of the centers that get regular TOI

Slavin is probably the 3rd name that pops into my head at the words "defensive defenseman", after only Siegs and Marino, and that's just bc they play for my team.

Jonas Siegenthaler is also somebody I think of when I hear defensive defenseman
