Why would Nylander and Guentzel go to a rebuilding team like Chicago with those contract extensions?

CHI isn't doing any of this, but if they were, this would be a "rebuild is over" scenario. Getting the chance to go play with Bedsy on a massively improved team after all those signings, that has tons of cap space, some very good young players, in a destination city, on an original 6 team with world class facilities, and a clean slate, would likely be very alluring to a lot of players.

Yes yes all of this. Then Bedard leaves after his ELC because there is no money to sign him. Some people have no grasp of a salary cap and should be banned from this section of CF.
