MTL wouldn’t trade Xhekaj for a late 2nd, late 3rd and late 5th round pick lol

No they wouldn’t but that would be a more acceptable offer. This one here is just laughable

You know that one guy everyone wants on their team but can't have cause his rights belong to someone else and it's gonna take a massive overpayment to convince his current team to trade him? Well you just targeted that player on the Habs so if you aren't ready to give up Holtz or something like that then you can forget about getting Arber. You might be able to get one of Wideman, Keeper, Beaudin, Nurmi, Mittelstadt or Tourigny for that though

Is this for help in Utica? Our blueline, especially on left side, is pretty solid there. Misyul has been a really nice surprise. And we have Vilen, Hatakka, Wotherspoon. I don’t think he would be needed there. And I certainly wouldn’t spend such a price on him.

Question is ….Smith > Xhekaj or Smith < Xhekaj. It’s probably close, but at least Smith comes off the books this summer.

Smith at forward > Xhekaj

And you don't pay a 3rd for a 7D

No way I’d pay a 3rd for Xhekaj.

A 3rd/5th for a guy like Jake Middleton maybe.

Xhekaj is literally in the AHL, I don't think he has a huge amount of value.

Lundkvist was literally in the AHL. I don’t think he has a lot of value… Nevermind, he was traded for a first
Nikishin is in the KHL, I don’t think he has a lot of value

Lundqvist was a recent 1st round pick and very good defensively while Xhekaj is a big dude who hits and has funny memes.

Lundkvist isn’t good defensively. He was an offensive D who asked a trade and didn’t want to return to the AHL. Xhekaj has some really good offensive instinct (second most goal by a rookie D last season). He is also not bad defensively.

I just think the Devils need some attitude. The Devils have a big team, most guys are at least 6' 200lbs, but never use it to their advantage. If the Devils brought in Xhekaj think it would shift their mentality.

Outside of consistent goaltending, and with Hamilton healthy, it's a great team on paper their just missing something.

I think a 2nd is too much but generally agree Xhekaj is unique player nowadays.

Idea came from him getting sent down and Stuble, Barron, Guehle, Harris in the NHL, Mailloux, Xhekaj in the AHL, and Hutson in college. Seems like a lot of defenders ready to play in the NHL soon.

This team is not built for that kind of game, and changing it to fit that style will only make us worse and our stars less effective. Geertsen was on the ice when Hughes hurt his shoulder in 2021.

You said it yourself. Goaltending is a huge problem. There's no reason to try anything else until we try bringing in a good goalie and maybe a defenseman. And not a Xhekaj, a guy like Hanifin or M Pettersson

But we are a highly skilled team, who can win if we clean up a few things defensively and get better goaltending. The solution is not to get worse.

If we do trade him, a swap for a young forward (Holloway, Glass) seems more likely

Yeah I don't know anymore, seems like Fitz has done everything right: got Hamilton, brought in veteran depth with Palat/ Lazar/ Miller, brought in Marino/ Meier/ Toffoli/ Vanecek/ Haula through trades, and drafted Mercer/ Holtz/ Nemec/ and Hughes.

What else can be done at this point that hasn't already been done/tried personnel wise?

I think it’s just growing pains. Losing Graves and Severson (and now Dougie) has left us with very young, very different blueline. I’d like to add one good veteran into mix, but hopefully someone with term. I don’t think we are at the point where we should be buying high price rentals at deadline.

Next summer, if an upgrade in net is available, go for it.

Yeah but if you can get a guy like Pettersson it wouldn’t even matter.

Siegs can be the graves, Pettersson can be last years siegs
