I may value Behrens higher that some but, this is a pretty solid offer. No one is trading 1-16th picks, not sure any bubble teams are making those kinds of moves on a ufa, and what other prospects are teams willing to offer up that beat out Behrens(wjc usa's top dman when they had L.Hughes). Only issue is if they'd be willing to take Johansen back...

Riley Tufte isn’t a top 6 NHL forward, and one d pairing I don’t ever have any interest in seeing is Girard Malinski. Also Bednar will never do it, but if they did get Lindholm I’d make Mikko his permanent 5v5 winger but that’s me because MacK is going for o drive play no matter who is on his wings.

Lets clarify. Nobody is trading a top 10 pick but NYI moved 13 OA last year in the Horvat deal. Eventually that puck ended up at #17 but they still had to claw into the wild card spot.

I think if a team like Minnesota could make an extension work they would move this year's 1st + for Lindholm but thats about it in terms of a potential top 20 pick being made available for him.

As for the offer itself, it's definitely on the lower end. Especially since Calgary has to take on RyJo's contract too. Behrens is a decent prospect, probably worth around a mid 2nd. I imagine Beaucage would probably at least need to be upgraded to Foudy for Flames to consider though

the issue isn't Behrens - he's a great piece for this trade. The issue is RyJo, which the flames won't really have a need for, and maybe moreso - Beaucage, which really isn't worth more than a pick, since he's unlikely to contribute much at the nhl level at this point. I think you have to attach a 3rd or 4th to this if you want Calgary to take RyJo back in the deal.

Good point about Horvat last season. What are some hypothetical returns you expect to see out of the suitors for Lindholm? What prospect would Mini give up that beats out Behrens? Also with their dead cap, I doubt they bring on any 8m guys, or can without equal cap going out.

It will be hard for Minny but the cap space and need are both there. Ive done the math and they can hypothetically add him without moving much in terms of cap out. Obviously the higher potential pick carries value, I wonder if they would make Heidt available but they do have some good prospects as well like Ogren, Lambos, and Yurov.

I think Winnipeg will heavily in on Lindholm though if he's willing to extend there. Obviously the need is there and they do look like contenders this year so far.

legit question here - if the flames move the players it seems like they might this TDL, do they intend to contend next year, or try and rebuild for 25-26 season?

If it's the latter, I don't think the ryjo contact is too bad, but if they intend to flip these moves into getting back into contention, they absolutely cannot take on RyJo. I would not be surprised to see a three team trade here, if Colorado is lucky enough to get Lindholm.

It will take at least 2 years of high drafting probably. They will need to rebuild half their blue line and most of that will be through development. Poirier can probably step in for next season but realistically they only have the 2 NHL caliber defensemen.

Actually taking on the RyJo contract isn't that bad for Calgary. But they aren't going to do it for free. Even if they have the cap space he is still blocking us from promoting another young forward like Coronato or Pelletier

Riley tufte has been really good in his showings with the avalanche, he's got a top 6 shot, he's got speed and size. Let's not forget that tomas Tatar was a top 6 forward last week for us and they just moved him for nothing. As for Girard and malinski it's more likely Girard and JJ

Yeah, I think the Avs would need to throw in another pick at least for Calgary to take ryjo, but the Avs are running out of picks.
