Take Dach and Primeau out and add 4 1st round picks and MAYBE Kent Hughes picks up the phone

Lol ok. Flames have no issue keeping him, we are not going to be anywhere near the ceiling next year and Wolf is easily the most valuable asset in that proposal so no

Honestly the more I think about it the more I can kind of see how it makes sense.

Huberdeau's bad 8yr deal gets swapped by 2 shorter term bad deals in Dvorak and Gallagher. Flames clear salary faster and MTL Hopes Huberdeau plays better at ''home''

Wolf is more valuable than Dach because he's unfortunately always injured (luckily it's not a string of concussions) and you add Primeau to balance it out. IMO it is still missing a little.

Not as big of a stretch as some people might argue but, I can see why both teams might say yes and why they would say no

I think the players in the MTL trade might be too redundant for my tastes as they both bring virtually the same thing to the table. If you're going with 2 d-men in the trade (which doesn't make sense for Buffalo) sub out one of them and put in Savard while balancing it out with another piece from the Sabres.

Or change one of those d-men to a draft pick, say a second rounder?

Just my 2¢

I don't know if AX and JK bring the same thing, I think wifi is a physical presence to help Power with his lack of and JK is similar to Ryan Johnson and would pair well together as shutdown to transition D

Here is my two cents on the Flames deal

Habs don't have any reason to add long-term contracts, if we are making this type of trade it is to get as many 1st round picks and top prospects as possible, so to make a deal like this they are going to want to include bad short-term contracts (Armia, Pearson, Dvorak ect...) to ask for 1sts or guys like Coronoto, Wolf, Peltier. I don't think there is a "fair" deal to be made when you are trading Huberdeau to a rebuilding team. While it might seem fair for the Habs to include the likes of Gallagher and Anderson, it really isn't something the Habs should consider IMO cause the two of them combined doubles the scoring output of Huberdeau so that has to be taken into consideration as well, whether you like it or not, there is more value there for a contending team like the Flames to swap out a Huberdeau for 2 players with half the term and combine for double the points. For arguments sake, if Habs were looking to include guys like Anderson and/or Gallagher you would still have to pay for the extra years on the Huberdeau contract, conditional 1sts makes sense to me. Let's say something like 4 1sts all conditional on performance, one for every additional year, the condition could be simple like if Huberdeau scores at .75 ppg or more the 1sts revert back to the Flames. If Huberdeau scores at .50 ppg or more the 1sts become 2nds.

As for the Sabres trade, I think it would make more sense for both sides to swap AX and JK for Savard and have the Sabres send 2nd and 3rd back instead

For me, both are projected to be bottom-pairing d-men with a chance to crack the second pair. I'm not sure about JK, but I do like what AX brings.

Just think that those two brought on board together really won't make that much of a difference for the Sabres. Savard would.

Flames fans hear huffing the copium if they think that

Wolf>dach and

Huberdeau at the 11th highest cap hit at a sub .5 ppg (while offering literally nothing beyond that) isnt a massive negative
