You’d think after enough of these, they’d stop

Hi there!

Monahan for a 1st has been going strong on here since last year. It’s safe to say that the general consensus on here is that Avs fans dislikes the idea. Monahan is not seen as a fit in Avs system and therefore they should use the 1st differently.

Last time people said it was an overpay when we traded, you won the cup and Lehkonen scored 4 game winners in the playoffs.
Maybe Monahan can be your lucky charm this year?
(FYI: Take Beaucage out if you want, we don't need him)

The overpay is moot. He's simply not a good fit stylistically.

The problem is not that it’s an overpay (even tho i think it’s). The problem is that Lehkonen is a perfect fit in Avs top 6. Monahan isn’t. So, i’m not arguing the value or Monahan as a player. Monahan isn’t what the Avs needs, plain and simple.

Flyers hang up, call you back just to hang up again. Then send Gritty to tap on your bedroom window all night. Because this is awful

If you’ve been here since 2017, you’ve seen the many responses to this rebuttal. We’re tired. Please stop.

That's fair, you know what you need better than I do.
He'd still be useful but perhaps not enough to justify the cost for you.

Not sure what you're referring to exactly, but I'm not seriously suggesting Monahan will result in another cup just because it happened with Lehkonen.
As for stopping, it's only a discussion, kind of the whole point of the forum. No reason we can't talk about the possibilities.

For the record, I’m not referring to you specifically. Just that it’s not a new discussion. It’s the same damn thing over and over for the last year and a half:

- Habs fans post a 1st plus for Monahan

- Everyone in the comments says that’s an overpay and a bad stylistic fit in Colorado

- Someone in the comments says “well Colorado traded for Lehkonen and everyone said that was an overpay and they won the cup with him!”

- Some poor soul in the comments explains why that’s a meaningless comparison given age, RFA status, injury history, and play style

- And then it happens again and again.

Please just give us a break lmao. Every single thread is the same.

I don't follow every post and I'm sure others are the same.
Repetition is just kind of something you have to accept.
X team doesn't want X player is never going to compute because there's always a price and that will always be subjective.
Try not to take it personally! smile

We do have a few frequent flyers that post these suckers like every day lmao. Luckily the good ol hivemind has been pretty unanimous over the last 2 seasons about this stuff.

Subjective price for Monahan in my mind is quite a bit further down the draft board than a 1st and probably has conditions around games played/production. Maybe throw in a prospect swap around Beaucage or Olausson or something.
