Days Leading Up to the Deadline

Created by: Lancebmx
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 4, 2024
Published: Jan. 5, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think you'd team could be a buyer come deadline time but not for rentals. I would only be looking to add players that can help this year and next year at least.

I still don't expect this team to be a real playoff team so they end up selling pending UFAs at the deadline. I would try and re-sign Kane.
Trades
1.
DET
  1. Malenstyn, Beck
  2. van Riemsdyk, Trevor
Additional Details:
Could be a bit of a logjam at RD for the Caps with Carlson, Bear, Jensen, TVR and Iorio knocking on the door.
Trade could possibly be Jensen over TVR but I feel Jensen might be a bit better and was with the Red Wings at one point so didn't really feel like making a reunion.
WSH
  1. Fabbri, Robby
  2. Määttä, Olli
Additional Details:
I think this move makes some sense for both teams.
Washington gets a bit better offensive player in Fabbri along with a replacement level two way defenseman in Maatta.
Detroit gets a couple more defensively responsible players to help with penalty kill and play in our own end.
2.
DET
  1. Sturm, Nico
Additional Details:
Not sure if he is available or what his price would be but he would be a good add in the bottom six.
SJS
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (DET)
  2. 2025 5th round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
Sturm would help to improve our face-offs and pk.
3.
DET
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Ideally get a second for Perron, could possibly be a conditional second based on games played on the playoffs or something.
Team could be any playoff team needing a veteran winger, Jost picked the Islanders.
NYI
  1. Perron, David ($2,375,000 retained)
4.
DET
  1. 2026 2nd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
I could see Vancouver being in on Sprong. He is young enough that he could be a part of their future for a few years. Gives 100% every shift.
5.
DET
  1. 2025 2nd round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Any team needing a offensive defenseman. Winnipeg was just randomly picked.
Would hope he would get a second with the year he is having.
WPG
  1. Gostisbehere, Shayne ($2,062,500 retained)
6.
DET
  1. 2025 5th round pick (MIN)
  2. 2026 6th round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Any team needing a depth forward.
7.
DET
  1. Samsonov, Ilya
Additional Details:
Some cap savings for the Leafs and a familiar veteran to help Jones and Woll.

Pretty astute on Sturm. I like him a lot but 3rd + 5th isn’t a bad offer for what he is. Think I would accept.

I like what he brings alot, could help this team a bunch. I was going to do a 3rd but since there isn't really any reason to trade him I thought I would throw a 5th in just cause.

I think Canucks would pay a 3rd maximum for Sprong. If DET wants more we can always sign him in the offseason

Do you think Daniel Sprong is a top 6 forward for the Canucks?

I don't think either Perron or Ghost get you a 2nd unless the Wings are taking back a contract.

The Sturm trade is interesting. Wonder if a Velano or Fabbri would interest them...

I think Perron would be redundant on the Isles with Lee and Palmieri already on the team. If they add a forward, I'd expect it to be someone with more speed than Perron.
