This sounds like a trade that Kings fans have been dreaming.
It’s obvious that Leafs will easily pass this trade.

I don't think LA would have the cap room

Clarke is a special talent, and PLD can rediscover his game. It's not an outlandish trade.

Kopitar was extended 2 years so only 3 mill coming off, Doughty still has 3 years left

Yeah Dubois come across as a brat wherever he plays, I don't trust that guy giving 100% for the full length of his contract. To get Marner on an extended deal, you'd have to give up a Byfield type of player rather than Clarke, and as others have stated if any of the big stars in TO are traded its going to be for an elite dman. Yes Marner is vastly overpaid, but he's also an elite defensive player, whether people see it or not, so you're getting the total package with him, where Nylander is more one dimensional.

PLD never really had a game to rediscover.

Vastly overpaid. You look at the guys who regularly finish at nearly 100 points and add a Selke finalist on top and Marner gets paid in that ballpark. It's funny how everyone says these thing strictly by comparing to the lowest paid guy in that player ranger and never the cap percentages.

That's not entirely accurate imo, PLD played great on the same line as Kyle Connor for a good amount of time the past two seasons.
PLD is actually a really solid power forward when he is on his game.

He brings jam and a mean streak. And he has the size to flourish in the playoffs unlike Marner.

Marner is a great regular season player, he is a MVP type player. But in the playoffs he becomes a shadow of himself.

His best season was 73 games and 63 points. He's not a ppg player. He put up 40 even strength points in 73 games.
He's a low end 2c at best with those numbers.

I’ll correct myself he’s overpaid. I’d say he’s worth more like 9-9.5 million per season
