Marchand and Giroux production are very similar players Marchand a bit better goal scorer Giroux a better playmaker and substantially better defensive fowards who's been a top Face-off guy in the league. If I were given a vote and had to choose one only Giroux gets it. Maybe Marchand being a s***b** slightly skewed my opinion but not by much.

I dunno about SergBob. Cujo isn't in.

Fluery the only active player you're missing that I can think of.

Brent Burns should definitely be on this list... a Norris winner and very high up on the defensemen scoring list. Sebastian Aho is a little bit premature... let him get a couple more of his PPG seasons in and then he'll probably be ready

Burns is a lock.

Pavelski should be added to the Maybes. Giroux and Weber are maybe as well imo. I'll get heat for Weber but his decline was pretty early and happened very fast. And if shutdown D-men ever get love, add Slavin and Vlasic to the the maybes

Bob is far from a lock.

In general it's hard to even consider anyone under 30-32. Its just a guessing game of if they stay healthy and on their trajectory

Marchand is partially responsible for my city burning down (kidding, btw) - so I'm with you on whatever those **** are covering.

I think him being the ultimate pest actually plays in his favour here though. He had some dirty plays which will work against him - so maybe I am wrong. I know Giroux had some great tough series with the Flyers but I'd personally vote Marchand.

The best shutdown defensemen from around 2009-2019. Literally an Olympian and was known as the most underrated d-man for 5-7 years. If you have Backstrom as a lock, Vlasic should absolutely be in consideration. The recency bias with him is crazy, people really forget how dominant he was

I can't think of a time where he was the best defenseman on his own team let alone one of the best in the league. He was a good defender but he's won 0 awards, 0 playoff success, and meh stats. He had a very comparable career to Dan Hamhuis, who was also on that 2014 gold medal team, who was also a good player but in no way a HoFer.

That SJ team according to you had Thornton, Burns, Pavelski (consideration) and Vlasic (consideration) not to mention Marleau will probably be added for GP record as well. Five Hall of Famers for a team that did nothing is a little much no?

I feel like I'm back in 2010 with how much he's being discredited right now lol. He was THE best shutdown d-man in the league for about a decade (https://twitter.com/JFreshHockey/status/1556027832840720384?lang=en).

Of course he doesn't have individual awards, he was a shutdown D-man. And yes, I think he was the most important player to the Sharks for many of years. There's a reason the Sharks went from dominating to getting reverse swept in 2014. Vlasic got injured in game 4 and proceeded to lose 4 straight. And the Sharks lost all 3 games that he was injured in 2019 against Vegas.

Yeah we weren't the '77 Habs. 🙄

Lots of stat compiling in SJ but when it comes down to it we never won anything.

Forgot Pavelski, Bobrovsky has two Vezina and All star appearances. If he wins a cup he will for sure get in. If Tom Barraso gets in Bob gets in

Joe is the modern day Mike Gartner. He never won anything but his stats give you no choice but to put him in the hall of fame.

Except he has won a Hart trophy and an art ross. Gartner actually won nothing sadly. I wasn't alive for Gartner I don't really know how good he is.

Those are individual awards. Not team accomplishments. He was a part of some pretty good Sharks teams and never won a Cup. Thornton was a superstar. Just a regular season one.

Gartner was a fast skater with great scoring hands. He stayed healthy and was very consistent for a long time. Scored over 700 goals.

But no one would ever call him a superstar. He was a star who even as he aged never lost his elite speed.

He was playing for the eventual Cup winning 93-94 Rangers but was traded to Toronto for Glenn Anderson before the trade deadline.

Gartner never won a Cup either.
