Drysdale and Ducks second rounder. Apparently Gauthier told the Flyers he would not sign with them. Wonder what the reasons were?? Could it be Torts?

Wow. What a job Anaheim. Underwhelming return if you ask me. For a #5 overall 1 draft ago? Ish. I mean maybe yeah. He didn't present to their dev. Camp.

When I saw it posted, I didn’t believe it was real

I thought it was an early April Fools Day prank

Some people on twitter alluded to some kind of issue or incident last summer but I can't recall specifically what actually happened.

He declined to attend development camp which probably rubbed the Flyers the wrong way. Apparently didn't talk to them during WJC was the nail in the coffin.

Ahh okay yeah this sounds vaguely familiar. Ultimately I think the Flyers did the best they could. Once the guy declines even the idea of meeting and talking with no strings attached, the ship has sailed. And if you dont deal him quickly, eventually someone asks him the question about his future with the org, and hes got no incentive to stay quiet. Then you lose your leverage.

Credit to Briere making the best of it, although Drysdale is a huge gamble. Just doesn't seem like a torts guy either but maybe he's exactly what JD needs right now.

Tortorella/Briere/Jones are all in the decision room together it would seem so I doubt they'd go trading for someone to just sit on the bench. Agreed on getting something, glad they are getting a similarly young player in a position of need.

If it is true about Gauthier leaving because he would not sign, then it is ironic that Philadelphia got LINDROS-ed -by Gauthier all these years later.

Gauthier was definitely influenced by Kevin Hayes. Its a Torts related trade imo. Im shocked by this and it certainly hits the prospect pool, but Flyers are playing well and Drysdale can add to that.

Walker and Seeler are most likely gone now.
