So...there's a good chance Buffalo gives up Cozens and Kulich for 0.5 years of Lindholm and Hanifin + a 2nd round pick.

laugh laugh Pretty hard to get Hanifin and Lindholm when Buffalo isn't even making the playoffs.

I don't see hanifin being a target. And the Sabres aren't gonna be in the market for rentals. And rentals don't return pieces like cozens and kulich. Extend lindholm and I'd certainly kick the tires.

Holy Hell, thanks for the laughs @Flamesfan60
That’s just an absurd idea

1- Sabres no longer looking at Hanifin
We looked into it, u guys wanted too much, so instead of giving Power a bridge deal we gave him a huge one & went cheaper with Clifton. The Sabres aren’t gonna give up what it would take to get Hanifin

2- basically the same idea with Lindholm as with Hanifin.
We are DEEP at Center & forward. Thinking we’d trade Cozens for him is ABURD. It’s just not happening

Sorry to be harsh, but your proposal is that brutal

This wouldve been terrible if true. Hanifin is crazy overrated, and bridging power wouldve been a disaster 2-3 years from now.

Most likely correct imo
I never wanted anything to do with Hanifin- he isn’t the kind of defenseman we need. Was surprised to hear we were calling on him

is there anything concrete to suggest the plan was to bridge power to make room for hanifin? Would hope the braintrust is smarter than that.

Agreed he's the wrong fit but given his USNTDP history it makes sense, especially since they signed clifton after. Not saying its right just that it's their shtick under granato.

The idea didn’t get far bc CGY wanted too much for Hanifin,
so we quickly switched our thought process
Was just an idea that was being considered

To which i commend Adams
I know u don’t like him, but it makes sense to consider a variety of options & then make your decision

While i don’t think Hanifin was what we needed,
if he came at the right price it could’ve been good for us

Oh sure good value is good value, regardless of my feelings towards the player. But I dont recall ever seeing anything written or mentioned about this by the national guys (specifically that we would bridge power to make room for hanifin). Even if they could get Hanifin for cheap and sign him to a good deal, if im bridging power and risking that massive contract 2-3 years down the line, it has to be someone better than noah hanifin. That's what's concerning.

It wasn’t reported nationally
AGAIN, was just an early option they mildly considered before moving in another direction

I mean if it's not concrete I can't entertain it as legit. I have no reason to take your word for it. I'm sure you'd say the same to me.

That’s fine
U do realize that MOST of what’s talked about behind closed doors doesn’t make its way to Elliott Friedman though….
right??
