Draft day

Created by: simonveilleux
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 9, 2024
Published: Jan. 9, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Based on the current draft positions, I think Ducks will target a big D-man such as Levshunov or Silayev. They can than afford to move down a few spots. To do so, they could land another huge RHD and complete their rebuild by trading with the habs.

On the other hand, Habs would land a skilled foward such as Demidov or Eiserman, a huge organizational need. Win-win in my opinion.

IMO Mailloux has done more than enough to make amends for his actions when he was 17 and the Habs organization has done more than enough to make amends for drafting him back in 2021 but the unfortunate truth of the matter is no other team will want the PR nightmare that will be reignited by their fan base directly after acquiring him.

Then swap Mailloux for Baron, Struble, Harris ou any other reliable D that isn’t Hutson, Guhle or Reinbacher

Why would the Ducks trade a pick that is likely to be higher than the Habs pick at the expensive of only adding player the Ducks have a plethora of?

This makes zero sense for the Ducks at all. The Ducks have one of the best defensive prospect pipelines in the league they literally just traded Jamie Drysdale because they felt they have a sufficient amount of prospects to replace him.

The Ducks do NOT need more defenseman
