Reinhart getting Nylander net pay

Created by: NHLfan10506
Team: 2024-25 Florida Panthers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 10, 2024
Published: Jan. 10, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Nylander
- 8 years
- $2,875,000 in base salary
- $8,625,000 in bonus
- $5,372,311 after tax

Reinhart
- 8 years
- $775,000 in base salary
- $8,075,000 in bonus
- $5,383,206 after tax

If Nylander money is the benchmark for Reinhart…Florida should be able to match the after tax numbers (obviously, a lot more goes into these decisions)

Rest of the contracts
- Forsling got Weegar’s contract
- OEL got Suters deal
- Lundell got just under Luostarinen (no arb rights yet)
- Cousins, Stolarz and Kulikov get $1.5m
- Most of rest are near minimum

Montour walks and is replace by Benning

One trade: Knight is moved out for cap space.

this would actually get him more than nylander since nylnder's agent fees and escrow nominal figures would be larger

Absolutely not. Forsling is the best player on that defense and plays ld which has always been weak for them.

Nah, no way Montour walks… he is better than Ekblad. Trade Ekblad and keep Montour.

Like he mentioned above the blank figure looks bad! Bit when you calculate taxes that deal in Florida will give him more actual cash than Nylander will get with his contract. This is a very smart take though I would argue don’t sign OEL for more than 2 years.

How Is it the same as Willy got? Taxes? That’s BS, CDN taxes have so many benefits, write offs and loopholes…do you thank Canadian players really pay that much tax?

They can save a little but why jump through a million loopholes and risk audit when you don’t even have to think about it in FLO???

I’d wanna play in FLO because of the sunshines and rainbows…well second to Cali…but there are also endorsements? What do you think the guys get up there in that frigid land? Willy took public transit to work one day and was spotted…it made him a lotta dough…big commercial..kinda funny too

Cali is great for hockey players who want to be out of the line light and great weather and entertainment off rink, but the taxes are brutal.

There is a Tax calculator here on CapFriendly that you can play with. Toronto is one of the worst tax markets while Florida is one of the best. 53% vs 39%.

Cali was great- 10 years ago! Our governor is a joke the homeless issue is disgusting roads are terrible it’s massively overcrowded in the Bay Area and LA and the taxes and cost of living is brutal! I make a great living but can barely afford rent and wouldn’t dream of financing a car! I paid 37k in taxes last year (taxes not retirement or medical Ben’s just state and fed tax)

I was worried I many have underpaid Forsling. How does the rest of the lineup look?

Didn’t know about Stenlund, Lomberg, Gadjovich, etc.

This made me sick! So a guy making 10 mil in California after agent fee escrow and taxes only takes 3.9! Mil home.

I would be gone if I didn’t have kids in school. Feel like a dick pulling them away from friends and everything they know at this age to a different state.

No worries I was just commenting! Didn’t know you shared my pain.
My biggest frustration is my brother just moved to Idaho and while he makes a little less he takes home more in each paycheck and his mortgage for an4 bedroom house is 500 less than my rent on a 3 Bdrm duplex.

NHL players aren’t making money off carried interest or through public finances (like owners). It is straight income. So there aren’t as many loopholes as you’d think.
