The Sabres are loaded with undersized offense only forwards (especially prospect pool). The picks are likely late, and the Sabres aren't shopping for futures. The center that might be available is mittelstadt, and the return would need to be something like- a second pair right d, that plays defense and throws his weight around. On paper the op has lots of value, but when you look at what the Sabres need, it doesn't really check any boxes.

I'm going to go the same thing that Canucks fans do with Pettersson (I'm aware he's got more value than tage):

It starts with Hughes.

Haha I thought same thing. To get Thomson it becomes a huge Blockbuster in us dealing Pettersson or Hughes for Thomson+. In the realm of possible what would it take for Wallberg?

Not that this trade would ever happen, but Willander would need to be involved.

Easy pass for both sides.
Tage Thompson isn’t available.
Canucks are not trading Kuzmenko, Willander, and a couple of draft picks.
This trade is a waste.

Basically Zero. Sure the coach or GM could be fired, that would be the most that you would see and I doubt that happens.

The Sabres have all the major pieces. They are just young/inexperienced. It's a team full of U23s.

And they still have more top draft picks coming up in Kulich, Rosen, Savoie, and Ostlund and Wahlberg. Wahlberg is not really available, as BUF doesn't really have any other prospects like him.

The Sabres are taking the patient approach, and after so many rebuilds, it's the right approach- much to the dismay of AGM's on CapFriendly.

26-year-old 94 point centers that cost $7.14mm against the cap for the next 6 years? Go fishing.

Wahlberg and strbak are two guys I wouldn't move. A young power forward and a defensive physical right d- I'm only moving those guys if a better version is coming back. Ostlund, savoie, and rosen are rated higher and I would make available if it fills a current need.

More than fair was thinking how potentially a Canucks PP would be in the future with Wallberg as net front presence and an upper Umbrella having Petey-Hughes-Lekkerimaki.
