Oof that's way too much for Guenztel. Lekkeriamaki should be untouchable in any trade

Canucks are not giving away their prospects and a first round pick.
I don’t know if Chicago has an interest on Tyler Myers.

Too much. I'd love to add Guentzel but getting rid of Hoglander and Myers I'm not sure how much it actually improves the roster this year - compared to the absolute mortgage on the future.

Pens would have to accept that if they feel that they can't/won't re-sign Jake.

So trade Myers at the deadline. If you want the hawks to take him with the assumption they retain 50% and get something back the deadline, than pay the Hawks to take the $6M off your hands.

Hawks decline. If Myers is going to be in such hot demand at the deadline, then Canucks can retain half and trade him without the Hawks getting involved.

No idea who the guy is but we aren’t going to trade Jake unless the team dives off a cliff.

Well theres your problem right there. Dhaliwal is a clown. Dont want a small 29 year old winger whos built his stats playing shotgun with Crosby. Pass.

I hope that's a joke. If a teams future is reliant on one player they are in a bad place already.

Even guys like Bedard and McDavid need support.

CHI isn't buying Myers. Just keep him as your own rental.

Hogs, Lekks and 1st rounder....all still considered prospects or future potential. Hogs = 1. Lekks = 1. 1st rounder = 1.

1+1+1=.... 3 not 1.

The 1st will be low and a 20% chance to be an NHL quality guy.

Hoglander can be replaced internally by Raty.

Lekkerimaki is a RW. Van has RW locked up for at least 2 more years. And then maybe a guy like Klimovich steps up.

Trading the equivalent of 3 1sts (which I think is being generous) for a chance to win the cup this year, isn't the future of Van.

I would argue not going all in is likely more dangerous to their future as they have to sell their best player on the fact they will go for it and give themselves a shot at winning. Standing pat might be worse for their overall future.

The draft is where you find your future. The 1st round is where the good future comes from.

Adding Guentzel doesn't make us a Cup favourite, we would need to empty the cupboards (think Tampa, Florida or Toronto), and that's foolish this year. Additionally, we can't afford to sign Jake next year. The only thing this deal does for us is weaken us in 2025 and beyond. If you want to give up that kind of package, do it for a younger player that isn't about to sign $8 - $9M++. We gave up a 1st and 2nd for Hronek. Good trade.

We simply are not a contender this year, no matter how much I wish we were.

Huh? Van is currently 2nd in points and 2nd in goal differential?

Vegas has them as a +900 to win the cup in 2024, which is tied for the best odds to win.

What are you talking about?

See? I love this about Leafs and Canucks fans. Endless amounts of optimism. Simply put, we're punching above our weight class right now, it would be foolish to mortgage the future for the present, but then again, life is full of people who do this....look at our politicians. I can only hope our management is smarter than that.

I know what you're saying and I don't actually disagree on a complete level. But, even if their xgoals is flat, it doesn't change the fact they are playing great. Even if they come back to Earth for the next 2 months, they could regain their form for the playoffs.

Also, you know what would help their xgoals? The guy who is #2 in the NHL in xgoals.

Miller isn't getting younger. Now is the time to strike. If not Guentzel, then someone else. A needle mover. One playoff team in 6 years with this roster is terrible. Take a risk and make a run.
