Initial Creation Date: Jan. 12, 2024

Description
Hopefully Frost fits in well. If not, the team still has their firsts to explore other solutions in the off-season.

Not sure what the market for Mrazek will be, but no retention is certainly a positive from Chicago's perspective, as it allows them to retain as a third team in other trades and collect assets.

I really like the Frost trade but with Cutter gone I'd think the FO wants to keep him around.

Certainly possible that they tighten their grip on him. Would make sense.

Thanks for the feedback.

I doubt CHI would value Olaussen very much. They'd probably rather just receive a higher pick. But, it's possible.

I think Olausson would be a great player for Chicago to take a flyer on and see if he works out. He has always been a longer runway type of player. I'd be happy to keep him, but I think Kovalenko coming over makes him expendable. I get where you're coming from though.

Yeah. Who knows, maybe he figures it out after a change of scenery or just fits CHI's systems better or something along those lines. However, if you would like to send Kovalenko and Gulyayev to us for Dickinson, I'd have to think about it... for about 1 second before I accept and yell "NO TAKE BACKS!"

Haha. I don't think they could trade Kovalenko even if they wanted to. Not after what it took to get him to come over.

Mixed opinions on Gulyayev, but I don't want to trade him. He looks good and is fun to watch. I like to say he plays like Girard in fast forward.

Which is kind of crazy, because Girard is already considered a fast player/good skater. It'll be different in the NHL though, he won't have as much time and space to do what he does, but I think he should still be successful.

When is Kovalenko supposed to be coming, at the end of his season or next season?

This season, assuming he's healthy. He's out hurt at the moment.

Oh $hit! I didn't even realize he was already here. I thought COL was still waiting. Interesting. Is there a time table? What happened?

Sorry, poorly stated on my part. He's under contract with the Avs but loaned to his KHL team. He will finish the season in Russia but then come over. So it should be before this season ends. Exactly when depends on how deep his KHL playoff run is.

Not sure what the injury is. LBI I believe, but none of our reporters has much detail. They're speculating that perhaps the Avs have a hand in his recovery and are being cautious, but who knows.

Definitely excited to see what he can bring!

Yeah. I've been pretty interested in seeing what he can do on North American ice for a while now.
