Tanev will be UFA. I think Treliving wants to spend the limited assets he has on guys with term.

And Ferraro is not what the Leafs need. They need a physical, defensive defenceman who is good on the PK. Both Gio and Brodie have not been good on the PK this year and that has hurt the Leafs.

Ferraro is physical and one of the best shot blockers in the league

Pea brain Keefe won't give McCabe and Benoit the top pairing chance because he is so worried about getting fired he has no balls to try something new. Gio and Brodie don't try to move guys from in front of the net, their useless at it.

He's a good defenceman on a bad team, with a good cap hit. I just think the Leafs need a mutant back there for the playoffs, someone huge who can clear the front of the net. The Leafs need another Muzzin type. Muzzin wasn't huge but he was perfect for the assignment.

Very impressive. But San Jose will want a hefty return for him. And I don't think it's wise to give up the farm for a 4th/5th defenceman.

Also, they aren't good enough. Rielly is the only true top pair defenceman on the team. McCabe isn't a shutdown defender, not a true one and Benoit shouldn't be more than a 3rd pair guy. I hope they find Rielly a proper partner but Liljegren has been really good this season.

I agree completely, they need a "in his prime" Muzzin.

That does also mean they allow a lot of shot attempts against, meaning they don't have the puck much.
