Make a Trade for a D Fitzy its time

Created by: TyeZerker
Team: 2023-24 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 15, 2024
Published: Jan. 15, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Smith cant go, you can not run Cal Foote, that will make it 4 inexperience D lineup which tbh im tired of how inexperience they, they need experience. Go look for a trade and make the salary work. Also clearly they think hammy will be back sooner than expect cuz it makes 0 sense to not just move him to LTIR already. Hope Fitzy fixes his mistakes he caused.

At least Daws looks promising but then again Schmid was that last year and look at this year he fell off. He is struggling in the AHL again which he always has.

Cal Foote is probably one of maybe 2-3 guys in the league Pat Maroon can whip in a skating race. Foote quite possibly is the worst skater in the league which is a shame because if he were just an average skater he'd be a 4-5 defenseman on a team easily. Reads plays well positions well, but has the foot speed of an oak tree.

Misyul is hurt too (would have likely been our next call up). So it’s either Wotherspoon, the guy that was a throw-in on Meier deal, or Topias Vilen.

Vegas has 7 dmen on roster, 4 more on IR...one one is waiver exempt. Miromanov or Pachal maybe odd man out. Both righties though.

Any siegenthaler you see out there as pushed out options we could take a shot on (I’d say habs dman but apparently according to that fanbase they have 12 dman in the system all worth a 1st+++++ with top pairing floors)

If MTL would part with Guhle, I'd be in line with a 1st.

There are dmen out there...mostly available via moving cap or roster spot...
COL (Byram, Manson) didn't expect to see BB name in trades
NYI (Pelech, Romonov, ??) -- they are going to run into some trouble with Romanov/Dobson playing so well and big RFAs coming. Maybe a year early...but will have to move someone out eventually
MIN (Middleton?) -- Have one more year of buyout bulge and logjam of LD prospects
STL (Perunovich? Krug?) -- They tried moving Krug...might be a bit much term. Tucker, Rosen have had some good minutes .
SEA (Dumo? Schultz?) -- They probably are net selling but gotta make room for Evans
OTT (Brannstrom) - Not sure about him.
NSH (Barrie, Carrier, Fabbro) - could see one move in buying or selling year

As for undervalued younger player...like Siegenthaler..
Ryan Johnson is probably a good bet. (but again maybe a year early)
Broberg sounds like he may be out soon in Edmonton (like Kemp too)
Probably not for us...but maybe Schneider from NYR.
Jackson Lacombe has been playing a bunch for Ducks...but they may need to open some spots up for Zellweger, Luneau, etc
If Kings extend Roy, maybe Jordan Spence
Does Washington want to give Sandin term?

Love it.

I’m thinking a Gryz+potentially 1 more long term/upside option on either side.

Hughes-Nemec
??????-Marino

Gryz-Miller-Bahl as 5-6-7

So for this year?

Siegs was unique in that he asked for a trade. Otherwise it would have likely been a summer move before his RFA.
Broberg may be closest comp to that situation in that he is probably available now.

Miromanov is interesting too. Former forward converted to dman. Coming off of injury. RFA at end of year.

if Habs are serious about all their guys...I'd go and ask for Guhle.
(Same with Chicago and Vlassic...saw somewhere someone list him outside the top-6)

I've been a big Foote guy, but he just can't skate much better than I, and saying I'm an awful skater is the understatement of the century.

Read it, should have been more specific: "surprise some people" as in play well on the 3rd pair and be that 6th/7th Dman when everyone is healthy for this year/ next year.
