Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Arvidsson, Viktor
Additional Details:
Arvidsson is UFA. He's been out all season, and is reportedly coming back in mid February. I believe the Leafs can wait until then for him while the Kings may be more desperate and need a top six winger in their line up right now.
LAK
  1. Bertuzzi, Tyler ($1,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Bertuzzi alongside PLD will do damage. He does great work around the net. He hasn't put up the points, he doesn't have a shot, but he plays well with teammates. Him and PLD would be a good fit.
2.
TOR
  1. Girard, Samuel
Additional Details:
Leafs get what they're looking for in a defenceman when they signed Klingberg, which is a puck mover and offense first guy. Right now Rielly is carrying the load, and I think the Leafs rank 30th for goals among defencemen. Girard will help.
COL
  1. McCabe, Jake
Additional Details:
Avs save cap, and also get back a quality defenceman at a cheap cap hit for 2 playoff runs.
3.
OTT
  1. Gregor, Noah
  2. 2024 5th round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Gregor is RFA and can be resigned by Ottawa.

Arvidsson and PLD will be fine I think, and we know Arvidsson will improve the powerplay.

I actually think the recent call up of ****emo and PLD are going to be fantastic. ****emo is like Kempe-lite, between him and Laffy they should be fine.

Despite what a good number of Avs fans say, Girard is too important to them to move. Take Manson instead (assuming he'd waive the NTC) and maybe.

Girard is truly not an offense first guy. He is a transition first guy. Someday this misconception will die out.
Don't see it as an upgrade at all for the Avs beyond the cap space.

So the leafs lack physical d-men. You trade their second most physical guy for an undersized d-man, Trev would never make that trade.

It's good to be physical. It's also good to be smart and understanding of your role on the team. Also, apart from some open ice hits McCabe doesn't play that physical, especially not in front of the net.

Girard is a 170 pounds, he couldn't move a grade 12 from in front of the net.

He's going to provide offense, something no one else but Rielly can provide on the defense. There are other moves to make to bring in physical defencemen. Someone like Schenn to play with Rielly would be great and a left shot physical defenceman to play with Liljegren on the bottom pair. Benoit and Girard could be the other pair.
