you're right, he's just our longest tenured/loyal player, best faceoffman, constant 30 goal pace middle 6C captain on a team friendly deal. We already lost almost all those same things when we lost Bjorkstrand, don't wanna see that happen again. so that's why we complain on things that don't equate.

He's a 2C. Not a game changer, but he's got a specific valuable set of skills that's hard to find while producing like a 2C. Getting a goal scoring/faceoff specialist 2C at <$4M per year for the next two years is why his value would be so high. Being able to put him on the 3rd line is a cheat code.

may of been 8 years ago since he last hit 30 goals, but he played a full season then. He's been getting hurt a bit more often now, but with a simple google search and calculations he's been a 30 goal pace player for the past 3 seasons including this one. A 2c for most teams or 3c for a contender and would be a great depth guy with scoring potential or PK time for a contender on a pretty reasonable deal. Jackets have trouble finding long term centers, I don't think they want to have to get rid of another one
