**** first period = good 2nd and 3rd period
Good first period = bad 2nd and **** 3rd period

What's shocking is how no one changes anything. I read an article about leads this season. How they just don't last. Mainly because there is so much skill these days and if you give good teams time and chances while you just collapse and stop trying to score, you eventually let the skill guys back in it. Vancouver got a 3 goal lead and they go into a shell now it's 3-3 and they have no momentum. TO does the same thing, everyone does. Apart from Boston it seems, they play the same way whether they have a 1 goal lead or a 4 goal lead.

TO should always play like they want the next goal. They don't and they lose leads constantly.

Like I said you see what you want to see and nothing else.

It's an NHL trope. Coaches think that if you get a lead you go full defensive and stop trying to score. You give any team enough zone time they'll score. Just keep trying to score the next one. Keefe doesn't change though but really what teams treats leads different?

Totally but coaches are stubborn and the "correct way" to play is go into the shell when you have a lead. No matter what.

There's a football coach I saw an article on once who never punted. He always gambled and the numbers supported it. They statistically had more success gambling than punting. Giving up possession was always a worse idea.

Anyone who does anything different in hockey is ridiculed and a coach who doesn't go into a shell with the lead wouldn't get a job.
