If you traded for him last year you would have gotten those 150 points for your team, in addition to everything he will do going forward.

Those 150 points are exactly why his value is lower now. Because Edmonton USED that value. For their team. To help THEM win.

Do you go try and sell your car back to the dealership after a year and expect full price?

How could a team know he was gonna score 150? It add to his value, cuz he probed he can do it

Because he scored at that exact same pace 2 years earlier

Guhle is better both offensively and defensively. Nemec is awful defensively (wich is normal at his age)

You watched one game with a bad line change and you figured out Nemec? Aren't Habs fans the group who are supposed to get it? Or is homerism that bad up north?

Not what the analytics or the eye test says.

Eye test comfirmed Nemec is awful defensively… analytics too. Guhle doesn’t abandon the guy with the puck in an odd man rush. Guhle doesn’t create tons of bad defensive play. We have Barron for that

I watched 15 of Nemec games and he wasn’t really good in any of them

And he didn’t achieve it. Having a certain pace is a thing. Achieving 150 pts is another.

Except Nemec is younger, better, more draft pedigree, has more team control and plays a more valuable position.

It’s more like Holtz has the same value to us as Guhle does to you.

Still let pass Slaf for a goal wink

Great play by Caufield on that.

Slaf is also very good. Hence why I offered Holtz+1st for Slaf.

Actually produces 5v5, big body, pedigree, young. I like him a lot

But hey slaf finally passed Nemec in points since Nemec came up. (scratch that nemec had another point tonight).

Still behind nemec in PPG this year tho. Don't worry he only needs 4 points next game to catch up.

Anaytics are a fair bit behind still tho

Start with Mercer + 1st if you want to talk about Slef or Hishier 1vs1 ! Stop downgrading our top prospect or the active top list rental players like Monahan.

There's no combination of assets montreal has that would be worth Nico.

I'd do Mercer 1 for 1 for Slaf. maybe add a 3rd. Unfortunately you burned an ELC year for no reason last year which takes away a fair amount of his value. Should have let him slide

Monahan I simply don't think is a very good hockey player. I think if it was 2005 he'd get a haul, but in today's game I think most teams are too smart to fall for a guy simply existing on a below average power play for a lot of time.

Again, go fleece the rangers. I'd be very happy to see the rangers pay for point totals once again like they did with Tarasenko and Kane

Yes. Burning a year of the cheapest contract a player will ever have lowers his value.

Let's compare Nemec vs Slaf

Nemec: 900k, 900k, 900k, RFA, RFA, RFA, RFA
Slaf: 900k, 900k, RFA, RFA, RFA, RFA, UFA

Let's assume they get the same RFA deals.

I doubt Slaf when he hits UFA gets less than 900k

Again, if a team can be convinced to buy monahan, good for you.

It won't be Jersey

On the flip side…while the slide moves the first RFA, it doesn’t delay the first arb. So there is an argument, for the top top guys (like Nemec, not Slaf) to get ‘em inked long term early.

If they are going to get max term…$8m+ at age 21…they are probably getting more at age 23.

Depends on the situation you're in.

NJD is trying to compete in these 3 years. For us I'd rather have the extra ELC year.
Montreal isn't, so they may rather reduce the long term cost.

Of course. For top guys…i.e, getting Jack and Nico at $15m…vs facing what Vancouver now has to Pettersson

Holtz has more 5v5 points by anyone on Montreal and it isn’t even close.
